‘Inside Out 2’ Secures a $100 Million Second Weekend
When the dust settled on Sunday night, Inside Out 2 was able to cross the finish line and secure the seventh $100 million second weekend in box office history.
Just as Disney had hoped, the film managed to capitalize on poor weather throughout much of the country and reach triple digits. Overall, ticket sales declined just 35% from its debut weekend, an astounding number for a tentpole film like Inside Out 2.
In total, only six other films have ever managed to cross the $100 million mark in their second weekend. Inside Out 2 will now join The Force Awakens ($149.2 million), Avengers: Endgame ($147.3 million), Avengers: Infinity War ($114.7 million), Black Panther (111.6 million), Jurassic World ($106.5 million), and The Avengers ($103 million) in the exclusive club. Notably, the Kelsey Mann-directed film is the first animated film to achieve the feat.

It is also interesting to note that Inside Out 2‘s $100 million second weekend was higher than the $90 million the original Inside Out brought in during its debut weekend.
How the Film Fared Internationally
Internationally, Inisde Out 2 grossed $164.4 million across 44 markets last weekend, bringing its foreign total to $369.2 million. That number puts the film just $2 million behind Godzilla x Kong for the highest overseas total of 2024 (the latter grossed $371.3 million).

In Italy and Brazil, where Inside Out 2 opened this weekend, the film had the second-highest opening ever behind only Avengers: Endgame.
Meanwhile, in Spain, Inside Out 2 set a record for an animated film by hauling in $13.1 million.

A Return to Form For Pixar
No matter how you slice it, Inside Out 2 is a roaring success for Disney and Pixar. In fact, it now seems an inevitability that the film will reach the coveted $1 billion mark.
