David Henrie Talks ‘Wizards Beyond Waverly Place’ and Reuniting With Selena Gomez
10 years after Wizards of Waverly Place wrapped, David Henrie and Selena Gomez are set to reprise their roles as Justin and Alex Russo in a sequel series titled Wizards Beyond Waverly Place.
In a recent interview with US Weekly, Henrie discussed what it was like to work with Gomez again after all these years.

“It was awesome. We didn’t want it to end. It was great. She’s so good. She has such a quick wit that’s only gotten stronger,” he gushed.
“We have a couple scenes that I think will choke up the original fan of the original show, and they’re really touching, and they went really well. So, I’m excited for you to see it.”

Catching Up With the Russos
The new series will catch up with an adult Justin Russo, who has forgone his magical abilities and chosen to live a normal, mortal life with his wife Giada and children Roman and Milo.
When Alex Russo brings Billie (Janice LeAnn Brown) to his home for help, however, Justin must dust off his magical skills and mentor the wizard-in-training. All while juggling his everyday responsibilities and safeguarding the future of the Wizard World.

According to the US Today article, David DeLuise will also reprise his role as Jerry Russo, Justin and Alex’s father. If it is up to Henrie, all of the original cast will eventually return.
“It was a joy,” Henrie said. “And we hope to have everyone back throughout the lifetime of the show, and if it’s up to me, as often as possible ‘cause they’re just such a wonderful addition.”

Finally, Henrie had nothing but praise for his new castmates, whom he called “very talented.”

While we don’t have an exact release date for Wizards Beyond Waverly Place, the series is expected to premiere on Disney Channel later this year.
