Julia Louis-Dreyfus Explains How She Got Her MCU Role
While Julia Louis-Dreyfus has already appeared in numerous Marvel Studios’ productions as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, her character is set to come to the forefront in next year’s Thunderbolts*.
During a recent appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, the former Seinfeld star discussed how she came to join the MCU. As it turns out, she thought it would impress her kids.
“I had a meeting with Kevin Feige and Louis D’Esposito, who run Marvel. They were big Seinfeld and Veep fans. I think they just wanted to talk about those shows,” she explained.
“I went in and we were hanging around, talking about that episode and this episode. It just came up; they said, ‘Would you ever want to do something?’ And I said, ‘Yeah, it’d be so much fun, and my boys would freak out.’ That’s how it began.”

What Is Valentina Allegra de Fontaine Up To?
Through her appearances in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, The Falcon and The Winter Soldier and Black Widow, we know de Fontaine is the Director of the CIA and Everett Ross’ former wife. What her motives are, however, remains unclear.

“I like who she is, as a character, which is mysterious. Is she good, is she bad? It’s a little bit unclear,” Loius-Dreyfus explained.
“I like the idea of her maybe being a little bit of a puppet master. I liked that they were kind of just dropping her into different projects a little bit here, a little bit there.”
‘Thunderbolts*’ Wrapped Last Week
As for what fans can expect from Thunderbolts*, the actress did not give anything away. She did confirm, however, that the production of the film “just wrapped last week.”

“When you work with these people, you have to sign a [non-disclosure agreement] NDA every three-and-a-half seconds,” she quipped.
Still, overall, Louis-Dreyfus had nothing but good things to say about her time in Thunderbolts*
“Loved [the production],” she said. “I got to work with really cool people, who we already know are in the film. Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Lewis Pullman, Sebastian Stan, Wyatt Russell. It was pretty dreamy.”

Thunderbolts* will hit theaters on May 5, 2025.
