Celebrate at the Disney Resort Hotels
Some of the Disney World hotels will get into the patriotic spirit with surprise character appearances, campfires, sing-alongs, marshmallow roasts, Movies Under the Stars, and children’s activities. More information about special activities is available in each resort’s daily schedule.
You can also just hang out by the pool or go on a chill boating excursion on Disney World’s lakes. And, if you’re staying over at any of the Disney hotels on the Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake, you can finish your day by watching the nightly Electric Water Pageant, which ends in a patriotic grand finale featuring the American flag and stars in sparkling lights.
Commemorate the Spirit of America Every Day
Disney also highlighted the ways America is honored year-round in the parks!
In Magic Kingdom, you can Stroll Down Main Street, U.S.A., which is inspired by Walt Disney’s childhood hometown of Marceline, Missouri. It’s a step back in time to a quintessential American town at the turn of the 20th century. Check out the Dapper Dans barbershop quartet, horse-drawn carriages, and the high-flying revelry of the Main Street Philharmonic.
The Daily Flag Retreat also happens every day on Main Street! The America flag is retired each night in a celebratory tribute to U.S. Veterans. Veterans often participate in the ceremony as well.
Over in Liberty Square, you can check out the part of the park set in the Revolutionary War era. It pays tribute to daily life in the original thirteen colonies — you can get up close to an authentic replica of the Liberty Bell and meet all 45 Presidents of the United States at the Hall of Presidents.
Walk along the Rivers of America from Liberty Square to neighboring Frontierland to journey through the country’s era of westward expansion.
Finally, head on over to The American Adventure in EPCOT! It’s a show including 35 Audio-Animatronic figures that retell pivotal moments and events throughout the U.S.A.’s history. You’ll hear about things like the landing of the Mayflower, Valley Forge, the Civil War, and the Great Depression as Benjamin Franklin and Mark Twain guide guests on this trip through time.
