Wesley Snipes Chimes in on the MCU’s ‘Blade’ Debacle
Since Marvel Studios announced that it was putting a Blade film into production in 2019, nothing has gone according to plan. The film was originally expected to hit theaters in 2023, with Mahershala Ali playing the titular vampire hunter,
In the intervening five years, however, the release of Blade has been delayed three times, gone through five different screenwriters, and the film is currently looking for its third director.
Just last week, reports came out that Yann Demange was leaving the project, and screenwriter Eric Pearson had been brought on to write yet another treatment of the script.
While the film is still technically set to hit theaters on November 7, 2025, that now seems unlikely. In fact, nearly five years after Blade was announced, we don’t appear to be any closer to seeing the film hit the big screen.
As it turns out, it isn’t just fans who have noticed what a disaster the Blade production is.
Wesley Snipes Pokes Fun at ‘Blade’s’ Struggles
In a social media post on X, Wesley Snipes, who portrayed Blade in the late 90s/early 2000s trilogy of films, took a lighthearted jab at the franchise’s latest struggles.
Blade, lordylordylordy 👀 folks still lookin for the secret sauce, ridin snowmobiles in traffic, kinda rough.

Snipes Has Previously Supported the Film
With Blade once again facing another potential delay, all eyes are on Mahershala Ali. While the actor has previously stated that he was optimistic about the film, it remains to be seen how long his patience will last.
As for Snipes, his latest post was likely made in good fun. The actor has previously been supportive of Ali and the Blade reboot.
“Much peace to the MCU crew – always a fan. Honor and respect to the grandmaster Stan. Congratulations and Salaam to Mahershala Ali, a beautiful and talented artist whose expressions I look forward to experiencing for many years to come. Inshallah, we will someday work together,” he told ComicBook.com in 2019.
For now at least, Blade is set to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
