‘Inside Out 2’ Is Heading Towards the Biggest Opening of 2024
Pixar is set to make its triumphant return to the box office this weekend with the release of the highly-anticipated Inside Out 2.
The long-awaited sequel to 2015’s Inside Out will return audiences to Headquarters, where Riley’s emotions Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Fear, and Anger are still at the controls.

As a now-teenage Riley begins to experience puberty, however, the original emotions soon find that Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment and Ennui are moving in.

In the lead up to the film’s release, Pixar has made no secret of the fact that they need Inside Out 2 to be a hit.
The Film Is Tracking Towards a Strong Opening Weekend
Based on projections, it looks like Pixar has nothing to worry about.
A new report from Deadline says that Inside Out 2 is heading towards the biggest opening of 2024 and could rake in $85 million at the domestic box office and another $50 million overseas. That would give the film a total opening weekend of $135 million.

So far, the biggest domestic opening of 2024 belongs to Dune: Part Two, which grossed $82.5 million. At the international box office, the top spot belongs to Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which grossed $194 million.
Early Reviews Are Strong
While Inside Out 2 will need to rely on good word of mouth to have the kind of successful extended run that the original Inside Out had (the first film managed to deliver $356.9 million at the domestic box office and $858.8 million worldwide), so far reviews seem to be positive.

If everything holds up, Pixar will have the hit that it is desperately seeking, and movie theaters will have their biggest arrival of 2024.
