Daisy Ridley Says She Is Only Returning For ‘Star Wars’ Film… For Now
While Daisy Ridley is set to reprise her role of Rey Skywalker in an upcoming Star Wars film, fans should not necessarily expect that another trilogy is on the horizon.
The Star Wars veteran recently sat down for an interview with the SmartLess podcast and shed some light on how her Star Wars return came about. As it turns out, she was as surprised by the news as fans were.

“I made a movie with my husband, I had one day off shooting and I was invited to breakfast with Kathy Kennedy. We occasionally take a meal together. I thought we were just having breakfast, and my friend was like, ‘Imagine if they’re doing another Rey thing,’ and I was like, ‘I doubt it.’ And halfway through breakfast, she said, ‘We are, how do you feel?’ I was surprised,” she recalled.
Ridley Says This Film Will Be Different
While Ridley will be treading familiar terrain in her return to a galaxy far, far away, the actress is expecting the film to feel different this time around.

“Different director, different writer, Stephen Knight is writing it, and directing it is Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who has made some unbelievable documentaries. It’s very exciting, and I shall be reading a script soon-ish,” she continued.
Ridley’s latest comments echo her previous statements. In an interview with Total Film, the actress had this to say.

“I honestly have had moments where I’m like, ‘I don’t know if I remember what I did [as Rey],'” she said. “It’s really strange. I think the whole thing will feel so different anyway with a totally different team. I’m in a very different place than I was. I’m probably going to be one of the adults. And initially, I was the youngest person on set, which is a weird feeling.”
Ridley’s Return Is For One Film
The upcoming Star Wars film will be set 15 years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker. According to Ridley, for now at least, the film will be a standalone entry in the Star Wars canon.

“I’m doing one [new Star Wars movie], for now,” she said.
