‘The Lion King’ Is Returning to Theaters This Summer for Its 30th Anniversary!
Lion King fans will get a chance to return to Pride Rock this summer when the 1994 animated film returns to theaters in celebration of its 30th anniversary.
The film will be the latest classic Disney film re-released to theaters, joining Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, Luka, Soul, Turning Red, and the Spider-Man films.
As part of the announcement, Disney took to social media and revealed a new The Lion King 30th Anniversary poster!
The new artwork features the film’s principal cast, including Simba, Mufasa, Scar, Zazu, Nala, Rafiki, Timon, Pumba, Shenzi, Banzai, and Ed.

“Return to Pride Rock this summer. Celebrate the 30th anniversary of ‘The Lion King’ and experience it in theaters beginning July 12,” the post was captioned.
The Celebration Continues at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
In addition to the film’s re-release, Disney will also be celebrating The Lion King‘s 30th anniversary at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
There, fans will be able to indulge in specialty-themed food, peruse new merchandise collections, meet TImon and Rafiki at Rafiki’s Planet Watch, and even get their hands on the returning Pumba Popcorn bucket.
‘Mufasa: The Lion King’
The year will then cap off with the release of Mufasa: The Lion King. The highly-anticipated prequel to the 2019 live-action version of The Lion King.
“Exploring the unlikely rise of the beloved king of the Pride Lands, ‘Mufasa: The Lion King’ enlists Rafiki to relay the legend of Mufasa to young lion cub Kiara, daughter of Simba and Nala, with Timon and Pumbaa, lending their signature schtick,” the film’s synopsis reads.
So, get ready! The Lion King will return to theaters on July 12.
