6 Reasons Disney’s NEW Lookout Cay Island Destination is So Special
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point officially opens tomorrow, June 7, 2024, and Disney fans are ready!
Disney’s stunning second island destination is exclusively for Disney Cruise Line guests. It is nestled on the island of Eleuthera (in the Bahamas), approximately 120 miles south of Disney Castaway Cay in the Caribbean.
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point highlights the rich culture, warm hospitality, and natural beauty of The Bahamas.
There are so many things to love about this tropical destination, but here are 6 reasons Disney’s Lookout Cay is so special.
Lighthouse Point
You will love exploring this stretch of coastline! Dramatic rock structures, turquoise waters, and more highlight the natural beauty of The Bahamas.
Pink Sandy Beaches
Sink your toes on pink sandy beaches all over Eleuthera’s shores. The pink color actually comes from crushed coral and shell fragments that mix with the island’s soft, white sand.
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point features some of the best pink beaches on the island!
Check Out the Pineapples
What is more tropical and an important part of Eleuthera’s history than the pineapple? Eleuthera has a long history of pineapple farming because of its distinct red soil. It is such an embedded part of its history the island hosts the world-famous Pineapple Festiva each year.
Be sure to enjoy a pineapple while visiting the island.
The Ocean Hole
Stop by Rock Sound, Eleuthera, and take a dip in the Ocean Hole.
This is a naturally forming blue hole that Bahamians believe connects to the ocean through 300,000-year-old caves. The hole’s higher salt content also makes it more buoyant than seawater.
In addition to the amazing limestone rock structures, legend has it that the area boasts natural healing properties!
You can check out this location through one of Disney Lookout Cay’s local Eco Tour port adventures.
A Cave of Wonders
Aladdin went searching for a cave of wonders, and now you can too!
Near Ocean Hole, there is a popular tourist destination and a natural rock structure called Cathedral Cave! Guests can discover wide ceilings, cascading tree roots, and glittering filtered sunlight.
It is also home to native Bahamian wildlife that you can learn all about while wandering along the beautiful nature trail at Disney Lookout Cay.
The Glass Window Bridge
Eleuthera: the Glass Window Bridge was once a natural bridge of land separating the Atlantic Ocean from the waters of the Exuma Sound and the 700 islands of the archipelago of The Bahamas.
Local artist Kevin Cooper painted this famous natural wonder, and his artwork is featured in the cabanas and available for purchase.
Beauty of Eleuthera
Eleuthera is an amazing new destination and the perfect place for Disney Cruise Line’s newest private island.
