Walt Disney World Wait Times for End of May 2024
Welcome to June, the summer month that has been the most popular at Disney World recently.
In 2022 and 2023, mid- to late-June crowds were the largest of the year until Christmas Week.
Will that trend continue in 2024? Well, Disney is priming the pump by opening Tiana’s Bayou Adventure on June 28th.
Magic Kingdom has started hosting sneak previews, and Disney recently posted a complete ride video.
Still, there’s a prevailing belief that Central Florida tourism will be lower in 2024 than in the previous two years.
So, we’ll be tracking this debate over the next several weeks, starting with the post-Memorial Day crowds.
Here are Walt Disney World’s average wait times for the end of May and early June 2024.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
During the week leading up to Memorial Day, most attractions at this park lowered their wait times.
Notably, the rides at Pandora – The World of Avatar required less waiting in line.
Kali River Rapids somewhat counterbalanced this trend, as the wet ride increased its wait.
As you’d expect, the popularity of this attraction rises with the Sunshine State’s temperatures.
How long did guests wait for all these attractions last week? Here are Animal Kingdom’s average wait times:
- Avatar Flight of Passage – 91 minutes, up 8
- Na’vi River Journey – 60 minutes, no change
- Kali River Rapids – 54 minutes, up 3
- Expedition Everest – 48 minutes, up 4
- Adventurers Outpost – 44 minutes, down 3
- Kilimanjaro Safaris – 32 minutes, no change
- DINOSAUR – 31 minutes, up 8
- It’s Tough to Be a Bug! – 15 minutes, no change
- TriceraTop Spin – 10 minutes, no change
Overall, we had a modest increase in wait times at this park.
The average attraction required a wait of 43 minutes, three minutes more than last time.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
During the week leading up to Memorial Day, Hollywood Studios experienced a modest slowdown in wait times.
Most major attractions decreased their average waits, but we had an odd split at the top.
The two rides that usually require the longest waits, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Slinky Dog Dash, demonstrated conflicting behavior.
Wait times dropped for Slinky Dog Dash, while they increased significantly for Rise of the Resistance.
Wait times for the Star Wars ride often soar when it has operational problems, but it’s also the most popular attraction at the park.
So, let’s check and see how everything played out last week. Here are the average waits at Hollywood Studios:
- Slinky Dog Dash – 91 minutes, up 12
- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – 79 minutes, down 7
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run – 71 minutes, up 18
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 60 minutes, up 6
- Toy Story Mania! – 59 minutes, up 5
- Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – 54 minutes, no change
- Alien Swirling Saucers – 41 minutes, up 4
- Red Carpet Dreams – 39 minutes, no change
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue! – 21 minutes, up 4
- Celebrity Spotlight – 18 minutes, down 1
- Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – 15 minutes, no change
- Muppet*Vision 3D – 10 minutes, no change
Guests at this park waited in line for an average of 42 minutes per attraction, two minutes more than last time.
Thus far, we’re up from last week, but please remember that it’s the week after Memorial Day.
The wait times should have gone up. If anything, I’m surprised because they’re in line with the average waits from two weeks ago.
EPCOT
During the week leading up to Memorial Day, EPCOT attractions required waits that were roughly ten percent less than the previous week.
That was a bit unexpected, at least for me. I’ve been anticipating more of a rush at this park due to the impending closure of Test Track.
My presumption is that crowds will flock to take one final ride on one of EPCOT’s most beloved attractions.
Did that happen last week? Here are EPCOT’s average attraction wait times:
- Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure – 72 minutes, up 3
- Frozen Ever After – 65 minutes, down 2
- Test Track – 65 minutes, no change
- Mission: SPACE – 52 minutes, up 2
- Soarin’ Around the World – 49 minutes, up 3
- Royal Sommerhus – 36 minutes, up 1
- Spaceship Earth – 21 minutes, up 1
- Turtle Talk with Crush – 19 minutes, now
- Journey into Imagination with Figment – 18 minutes, no change
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends – 17 minutes, no change
- Living with the Land – 15 minutes, down 2
- Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros – 12 minutes, down 1
Overall, EPCOT guests stood in line for an average of 36 minutes per attraction, one minute more than last time.
So, yeah, we’re up this week, but it’s only by a modest amount.
Magic Kingdom
So, we have a relatively clear picture of what’s happening. Let’s go ahead and look at Magic Kingdom’s average wait times:
- Seven Dwarfs Mine Train – 73 minutes, up 6
- Peter Pan’s Flight – 59 minutes, no change
- Space Mountain – 54 minutes, up 5

- Princess Fairytale Hall – 41 minutes, up 3

- Walt Disney World Railroad – 14 minutes, down 2
- Prince Charming Regal Carrousel – 12 minutes, up 2
- Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress – 5 minutes, no change
Final Thoughts
At Magic Kingdom, the average attraction required a wait of 30 minutes, which is three minutes more than last time.
So, post-Memorial Day crowds were definitely larger than the pre-Memorial Day visitors.
However, the difference was only about eight percent week over week, which is in line with what we saw two weeks ago.
In other words, the parks are technically up, but the growth isn’t dramatic yet.
Over the last two years, everything picked up after the first few days of June.
Thus, I expect additional increases next week, followed by a spike in two weeks.
Again, that may not happen, though. Some Central Florida officials are preparing for a smaller influx of traffic in 2024.
The thought process is that with Universal Epic Universe arriving next year, casual tourists might wait for a combined vacation in 2025.
Generally, I believe those concerns are wildly overstated, but I’m allowing for the possibility, and you should, too.
