It seems like just yesterday that Russell, Carl, and Ellie wormed their way into our collective hearts. Nowadays, we can’t imagine our lives without them!

But it’s been exactly 15 years since Disney & Pixar’s Up hit theaters back on May 29th, 2009, and today, we’re celebrating the legacy of this beloved classic film.
Happy 15th Anniversary to Up
When Up was released 15 years ago, the film touched the hearts of audiences everywhere.
The film follows 78-year-old widower Carl Fredricksen, who forges an unexpected friendship with a boisterous, 8-year-old Wilderness Explorer named Russell.

The unlikely pair set off on a grand adventure (in Carl’s colorful balloon house, of course) as Carl embarks on a journey to visit Paradise Falls, where he’d planned to travel with his late wife.

As Carl and Russell find that “adventure is out there,” they come across new friends (like Dug and Kevin!), solidify their friendship, and break Carl’s curmudgeonly shell.
The result is an endearing and uplifting film that breaks your heart… and then teaches you how to heal.

The Legacy of Up
In the years since Up was released, the film has stamped itself on our hearts and solidified its place within the Disney Parks.
Now Disney World guests can encounter Kevin and talking Dug at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
