EPCOT’s American Heritage Gallery Closes in Preparation For George W. Bush Art Exhibit
With just days to go until Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors, a special exhibit by former President George W. Bush, debuts at EPCOT’s American Adventure, the pavilion’s American Heritage Gallery has closed in preparation.
The new exhibit will replace the Creating Tradition: Innovation and Change in American Indian Art exhibit, which has been located in the gallery since July 2018.
Creating Tradition: Innovation and Change in American Indian Art showcased “authentic, historical Native artifacts alongside contemporary works of American Indian art — demonstrating examples of cultural traditions which have been handed down through generations.”
‘Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors’
The upcoming exhibit from former President Bush will feature more than 60 oil paintings of service members. These are veterans who have served in the military with honor since 9/11. Each individual depicted is also someone who President Bush came to know personally since leaving office.
“Celebrating those who give so much to our country has been part of the fabric of The Walt Disney Company throughout our 100-year history,” said Josh D’Amaro, Chairman, Disney Experiences. “We’re grateful to the Bush Institute for allowing us to feature this special collection and share it with our guests.”
The American Heritage Galley Has Closed
While the American Heritage Gallery has officially closed today, a sign advertising Creating Tradition can still be found outside the pavilion.
Inside, however, the gallery’s large doors have been closed. A sign reading “exhibit unavailable” informs guests that the gallery is closed.
Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors will officially open on June 9.
