Disney’s New Sports-Centric Streaming Service Finally Has a Name
The joint venture between Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery that will see the launch of a new sports-centric streaming service that will give fans access to a myriad of the biggest sports networks on television.
The new app will include Disney-owned ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, SECN, ACCN, ESPNEWS, and the ABC broadcast network. ESPN+ will also be included. Warner Bros.
Discovery will contribute to TNT, TBS, and TruTV, while Fox will pitch in FS1, FS2, and the Big Ten Network.

By creating the new streaming service, Disney, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery will look to reach a consumer base that has increasingly moved away from traditional cable.
Venu Sports
The joint venture previously announced Peter Distad as its CEO. Now, the new streamer has a name — Venu Sports.

“We are excited to officially introduce Venu Sports, a brand that we feel captures the spirit of an all-new streaming home where sports fans outside of the traditional pay TV ecosystem can experience an incredible collection of live sports, all in one place,” Pete Distad, CEO of Venu Sports, said in a statement.
“As preparations for the platform continue to accelerate, we are singularly focused on delivering a best-in-class product for our target audience, built from the ground up using the latest technologies to engage and entertain discerning sports fans wanting one-stop access to live games.”

While the companies involved previously announced that they expect 5 million subscribers to Venu in the first five years, a price point for the streamer has not been announced yet.
When Will Venu
Venu is expected to launch later this year, although an exact date has not been revealed.

According to Disney, subscribers will also have the ability to bundle the new product with Disney+, Hulu, and Max.
