Chris Pratt Wants to Join the DC Universe…and Still Work for Marvel
With James Gunn leaving for the DC Universe and Zoe Saldana and Dave Bautista turning in their uniforms, the future of the Guardians of the Galaxy remains unclear.
Initially, it seemed like Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 would be the end of the franchise, with Marvel advertising the film as “one last ride.”

Never one to close the door on a popular franchise, however, Marvel seemingly left the door open for a new version of the Guardians to carry the franchise forward and promised that “Star-Lord will return” in a Vol. 3 post-credit scene.
Will Chris Pratt Return to the MCU?
While Bautista and Zoe Saldana have both publicly stated that they are done with the MCU but would be willing to work with Gunn in the DC Universe, the same is not true for Chris Pratt.
The actor has been open about his willingness to reprise his now iconic role, even if it means doing so with a new director.

During a recent interview with Comicbook.com, Pratt was asked point-blank if he would be returning to the MCU or following Gunn to the world of DC. Interestingly, Pratt said he wanted to do both.
“Well, it probably makes more sense for me to reprise the role of Star-Lord. But anything is on the table, especially with James now involved with DC. Perhaps there’s a fitting opportunity there. Or maybe both. Why not both? Let’s explore both avenues. I’d say it’s a solid 100% chance for both,” he said.
Could Pratt Star in Both Universes?
This is not the first time that Pratt has discussed his willingness to jump into the DC Universe, but it is perhaps his most definitive statement.

While it remains to be seen whether or not Gunn has a place for Pratt in his new universe, it sounds like we have not seen the last of Star-Lord. With the Avengers set to assemble again in 2026, perhaps we will hear more about Pratt’s future soon.
