Mickey and Minnie Return to Bringing Magic to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County
Magic recently returned to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County in California as for the first time since 2019, Mickey and Minnie Mouse surprised patients and their families during a surprise visit!
For the first time since COVID, sounds of joy and laughter filled the hallways of CHOC when the dynamic duo returned to make in-room visits and once again gave patients the chance to make memories of a lifetime.

“When Disney comes to visit CHOC, Disney’s magic isn’t just a fantasy – it’s a beacon of hope, joy, and wonder that transforms moments of uncertainty into cherished memories for patients and families alike,” said Eric Mammen, Creative Arts Supervisor – Child Life Development at CHOC.
Mammen went on to say, “We are so grateful for the opportunity for our patients and families to experience these moments provided by the Disney characters and cast members.”

In addition to smiles and hugs, Mickey and Minnie also handed out plushes to patients to serve as a beacon of hope and positive vibes for healing and the future.
The partnership between CHOC and Disneyland goes back to Walt Disney himself. In 1960, Walt was on the hospital’s founding board, and his fundraising helped bring the children’s hospital to life.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of CHOC, and Disneyland is more dedicated than ever to raising funds for the hospital.
For over 30 years, CHOC has hosted an annual fundraiser, CHOC Walk in the Park, which raised over $44 million for the hospital’s programs and research.

The Walk in 2023 raised over 2.2 million and returns to the Disneyland Resort on July 21, 2024, for another round of magic and fundraising!
Participants of the 5k are invited to enjoy a special early-morning trek through Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, all while raising money for an amazing cause.

In addition to hosting the walk and appearances by Mickey and Minnie Mouse at the children’s hospital, the Disneyland Resort has also supported the child-friendly design of a tower at CHOC and installed an interactive “Turtle Talk with Crush” show in the hospital’s lobby. There are also the VoluntEARS, who have volunteered countless hours to bring even more joy to the patients and families at CHOC.
