Soccer Star Memo Ochoa Surprises Youth Soccer Players at Disney World
Kids participating in the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. During the USYS National Championship got a very special surprise. They had a chance to meet Mexican National Team Goalkeeper Memo Ochoa. The event recently took place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
Mickey Mouse got in on the surprise which took place on Thursday, July 20 during the US Youth Soccer National Championships which ran through Saturday 23, 2023.
During the meet and greet, Ochoa and Mickey posed for photos with the 25 boys and girls soccer youth goalkeepers in front of the iconic globe at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. The goalkeepers and their teams traveled from all over the United States to compete in this year’s soccer tournament.
For those unfamiliar, Ochoa is the captain of El Tri, the Mexican national team, he has appeared in five FIFA World Cup tournaments and recently led Mexico to its record 9th CONCACAF Gold Cup championship. The 38-year-old goalkeeper really spent time talking to kids, taking photos, and signing autographs.
When meeting aspiring soccer players at the CONCACAF Gold Cup Championship, Ochoa also took some time to spend times at Walt Disney World Resort with his family. The trip had the dual purpose of celebrating Ochoa’s 38th birthday and included the soccer star’s first time riding the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. It went on to say that that the new family-thrill coaster is his favorite Walt Disney World attraction.
The USYS National Championships give boys and girls team an opportunity to showcase their talents against the best competition in the nation. More than 185.000 athletes across 10,000 teams compete throughout the year on state and regional levels for a chance to head to Walt Disney World for the finals.
