June 7th was a busy day in Disney history, with the opening of a Magic Kingdom classic, the debut of a Disney Channel mainstay, and the return of a Disneyland fireworks show. So, let’s get started!

Mr. Duck Steps Out Released (1940)
On this day in 1940, the Donald Duck cartoon Mr. Duck Steps Out was released.

The cartoon featured Donald Duck attempting to go on his first date with Daisy. While things initially go well, they are soon interrupted by Huey, Dewey and Louie.
Squatter’s Rights Released (1946)
On this day in 1946, the Mickey Mouse cartoon Squatter’s Rights was released.

In the cartoon, Chip ‘n’ Dale move into Mickey’s stove, while Pluto tries to chase them out.
Mission to Mars Opens (1975)
On this day in 1975, Mission to Mars opened in Walt Disney World’s Tomorrowland.

The attraction was circle-in-the-round show that took guests on a trip to Mars. The attraction replaced Flight to the Moon.
Disneyland Presents Top 40 Night Takes Place (1980)
On this day in 1980, Disneyland Presents Top 40 Night took place.

Nighttime entertainment included K.C. & the Sunshine Band, Shalamar, and Papa Doo Run Run.
Bear in the Big Blue House (1999)
On this day in 1999, Bear in the Big Blue House- Live on Stage opened at the Disney-MGM Studios.

The interactive stage show was based on the Playhouse Disney show Bear in the Big Blue House.
Kim Possible Premiers (2002)
On this day in 2002, Kim Possible premiered on the Disney Channel.
The show told the story of Kimberly Ann Possible, a teenage cheerleader who also fights super-villains.
Lorenzo Premiers (2004)
On this day in 2004, the Disney short Lorenzo premiered.

The short was based upon pencil sketches and a story idea by Disney veteran Joe Grant from nearly 20 years prior.
Disney Creates A Cinderella Castle “Royal Bedchamber” (2006)
On this day in 2006, Disney announced that the Cinderella Castle apartment would be transformed into a “royal bedchamber”.

Guests got a chance to stay in the new room during Disney’s Year of a Million Dreams celebration. Everyday, one random guest would win a once-in-a-lifetime overnight stay.
Tron: Uprising Debuts (2012)
On this day in 2012, Tron: Uprising debuted on Disney XD.

The new animated series was set between the events of Tron and Tron: Legacy.
Disney Submits Plans For Disneyland Hotel (2016)
On this day in 2016, Disney submitted plans for a new Disneyland hotel.

The hotel would have been Disney’s 4th on property, however plans were canceled in 2018.
Cloak and Dagger Premiers (2018)
On this day in 2018, Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger premiered on Freeform.

The show told the story of two teenagers from different backgrounds who gain superpowers that are mysteriously linked.
Richard Gerth Passes Away (2018)
Also on this day in 2018, longtime Grand Floridian cast member Richard Gerth passed away.

Richard served as a Grand Floridian greeter from 1991 until his death. He was known for his straw hat- which he would tip to welcome guests.
Tale of The Lion King Debuts (2019)
On this day in 2019, Tale Of The Lion King debuted at DIsney California Adventure.

The theatrical style show combined live music, drama, and dance to tell the story of The Lion King.
Disneyland Forever Returns (2019)
Finally, on this day in 2019, Disneyland Forever returned to Disneyland.

The show used fireworks, projection mapping, and lasers to depict scenes from Disney films.
