Good News, Witches! We’re Getting Hocus Pocus 3!
A Disney executive recently confirmed that Hocus Pocus 3 is happening!
Yes, the Sanderson Sisters will once again run amok, amok, amok! Here’s what we know.
Hocus Pocus 3 Is Greenlit

For the past 13 years, Sean Bailey has held a lofty title. He’s the President of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production.
Bailey had a hand in all the Disney movies you have loved over the past decade.
During a recent interview with The New York Times, the head of Disney live-action remakes confirmed, “Yes, Hocus Pocus 3 is happening.”

Nobody should be surprised by this. After all, MickeyBlog tracked the success of the surprisingly good sequel on Disney+.
We noted that early reviews matched our own opinion of Hocus Pocus 2. Later, we spotted it at number one on the Disney+ Trending chart.

Soon afterward, we reported on its stunning success, as the film broke the Nielsen streaming ratings record with at least 2.7 billion minutes watched.
That’s how much people watched during Hocus Pocus 2’s first few days on the service. And they kept watching, too!

During calendar 2022, Hocus Pocus 2 was one of the most-watched streaming movies.
The remarkable part is that the film didn’t even debut until September 30th, 2022. So, it basically achieved that feat in barely three months!

Obviously, demand for the Sanderson Sisters remains outrageous 30 years after Disney released the original Hocus Pocus.
So, news of a third film shouldn’t shock anyone. After all, Sarah Sanderson didn’t stop after two amoks, did she? Why should the film franchise stop there?
Who Will Appear in Hocus Pocus 3?

We know very little about the third film, although we heard rumblings last October.
Hocus Pocus 2 left the fates of the Sanderson Sisters seemingly settled, but a crow who looked a lot like Mother Witch watched the proceedings unfold.

The character as portrayed by Ted Lasso’s Hannah Waddingham could take on an even bigger role in a third film now that her series has ostensibly ended.
Plus, we have a new coven of witches to explore! The possibilities are endless, but we’d be shocked if the Sanderson Sisters didn’t return.

The three actresses who portray them – Kathy Najimy, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Bette Midler – genuinely seem to love these roles.
Also, some of the characters from the original Hocus Pocus didn’t appear in the sequel. So, they’re fair game for Hocus Pocus 3!
Thora Birch nearly made a cameo in Hocus Pocus 2, while Vinessa Shaw expressed her willingness to appear in a sequel:
Sean Murray has since become one of the most famous television actors in the world on NCIS.
His character, Thackery Binx, would be a welcome return as well.

There’s plenty of potential here, depending on how Disney decides to proceed.
When Will Hocus Pocus 3 Arrive?

Of course, the real question is whether Hocus Pocus 3 will debut on Disney+ as Hocus Pocus 2 did.
Some in Hollywood criticized Disney for not releasing the film in theaters instead.
I strongly suspect the third film will start at the local cineplex, probably in 2024 or 2025.

The current Writers Guild of America strike prevents filming from occurring anytime soon, which makes 2025 the more likely target date.
