Behind The Magic: One Cast Member’s Disney Journey
The important thing to remember when visiting Disney Parks is that it is the Cast Members who really make the magic happen.
Visitors from all around the world congregate in Walt Disney World to create magical memories that they will cherish for the rest of their lives, but it takes a lot of work to make dreams come true.
Today I want to bring you the story of one of Walt Disney World’s unheralded Cast Members, Principal Software Architect Linh Pham.
Looking For A Challenge
Linh moved with her family from Vietnam to Florida when she was young. Although she didn’t know what she wanted to do when she grew up, she knew she loved a challenge.

After trying various majors including Architecture, Microbiology, and Accounting, Linh found her calling in Computer Science Engineering.
“What motivated me, what made me successful, and what made me choose technology and Computer Science was that I wanted to do websites. I wanted to do more web development and programming.”
Joining Disney
After moving back to Orlando from California, Linh applied to work in the Disney Parks. She knew she wanted to be in the entertainment industry, and Disney provided her with the perfect opportunity.

Although Linh and her family had only visited Walt Disney World a handful of times growing up, in the first month of her Disney career, she and her family visited Walt Disney World together every weekend.
In her current position in Resort Technology, Linh has represented Disney Parks Teach and Digital at two Grace Hopper Celebrations of Women in Computing. That organization connects and provides resources for women in technology around the globe. She is also part of an internal mentorship program to support aspiring tech professionals at Disney.

“Disney is all driven by technology. All the parks, the resorts, the cruise line, all the movies, and everything… We’re not just an entertainment business; we’re also a technology business,” Linh says.
