The Little Mermaid Makes Opening Day Splash with $38 Million!
The live-action remake of the classic animated movie, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, opens to over 4,000 theaters nationwide this weekend. And the highly anticipated movie is already making waves.
The Little Mermaid makes an opening day splash with $38 Million at the domestic box office.
The new Disney movie is expected to bring in between $120 million -$130 million over the long Memorial Day weekend.
The movie already took in $10.3 million in previews on Thursday, ranking it as the seventh-highest haul for a movie rated G or PG.
This is a great indicator that the film is on track to gross over $100 million over this Memorial Day weekend.
The Little Mermaid opened with mixed reviews from critics but fans have not been deterred.
A strong opening weekend could potentially put The Little Mermaid at the top of Disney live-action remakes surpassing 2019’s The Lion King and 2017’s Beauty and the Beast.
The Little Mermaid
The exciting new movie stars singer and actress Halle Bailey (from “Grown-ish”) as princess Ariel and includes a fun star-studded cast. “The Little Mermaid” follows the story of the adventurous and spirited mermaid who has a thirst for adventure… that may land her in trouble.
If you loved the Disney animated classic, this promises to be a fun new take on it! Visionary filmmaker Rob Marshall takes the classic story and reimagines it into a live-action new film with new music and a modern take.
