Kathleen Kennedy Gives An Update On ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Season 2
One of the biggest surprises at this year’s Star War Celebration was not something that was announced, but something that wasn’t.
In a weekend that brought news that three new Star Wars feature films would be coming to theaters, and that the animated series The Bad Batch would be returning for a third season, Lucasfilm was strangely quiet on the future of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Return
2022’s Obi-Wan Kenobi saw Ewan McGregor return to his iconic role as the Jedi Master for a limited six-episode series.
The show also saw the return of Hayden Christensen as both Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader.

Praised by both critics and fans, there have long been calls for a second season of the show, in spite of the fact that it was originally marketed as a limited series.
Despite the fact that both McGregor and Christensen have expressed interest in returning for another season of the show, Lucasfilm has remained mum.

The presentation of the panel led many to expect that season 2 of Obi-Wan Kenobi would be announced. Nevertheless, Lucasfilm once again remained quiet.
Kathleen Kennedy Gives Update
In a sit down with Entertainment Weekly’s Dagobah Dispatch, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy gave an update on the future of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

While Kennedy confirmed that there were no plans to continue the series at this time, she did leave the door open for Kenobi’s return.
“I always hesitate to say no to more Obi-Wan Kenobi,” Kennedy said. “Maybe we end up doing something that gets incorporated into some of the other stories that we’re doing. Or eventually into a movie, but who knows? But right now, it’s still our standard standalone limited series.”

With Ewan McGregor open to reprising his role, and Obi-Wan Kenobi arguably the most popular character in the franchise’s history, Lucasfilm would be dumb not to utilize McGregor while they can.
Nevertheless, for now, at least, Star Wars fans will have to be patient. Until then, may the Force be with you.
