Construction Update: DVC Tower at the Polynesian Takes Shape
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog then you’ll know that big changes are happening over at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. The former location of the Spirit of Aloha dinner show has been demolished to make way for a new Polynesian Resort DVC Tower. Our MickeyBlogger tries to get weekly updates for us from atop the Disney World monorail and today we have a new Polynesian Resort Disney Vacation Club structure to share.
As we pass by the shore of the Seven Seas Lagoon, you can see construction on the waterfront tower.
The new building will have more stories than the standard resort room buildings.
We’re told the building will bring additional amenities to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort including additional dining and recreation options.
Like other DVC properties, it will feature villa accommodations for Disney Vacation Club members. This could potentially include 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom villas.
As you can see, cranes are in the area along the waterfront as the concrete wall for the building is being put into place.
If you have a Summer 2023, Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort reservation, you can expect to encounter some construction noise during the day.
The Polynesian Resort DVC Tower is part of a massive refurbishment over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort that has seen rooms refurbished, new hard and soft furnishings in the lobby area, a new entrance/porte cochere, the remodeling of Kona Cafe, and more!
At the moment the DVC building looks as if it encompasses six floors.
In the image above you can see the size of the existing Polynesian guest buildings in comparison to the new tower.
It looks like additional levels are in the works.
With part of the beach at the Poly already taken up by the over-the-water cabanas, it looks like lakefront access will be more limited due to the DVC tower.
The other side of the waterfront is now taken up by the Polynesian Village Resort Bungalows.
Disney has yet to announce an official opening date for the DVC tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.
However, this is a story that we will continue to follow closely, and promise to keep you posted.
