Disney Releases List of All New Attractions and Experiences Coming to the Theme Parks
If you’ve been following along with MickeyBlog you’ll know that yesterday was the Q2 Earnings Report. Along with updates on the financial status of the company, Disney also provided us with a rundown of the busy calendar of new projects heading to the theme parks, streaming networks, and movie theaters in the year ahead. So grab your planners and let’s get organized because some of these Disney happenings you simply won’t want to miss!
Let’s start at my favorite place – Disney Theme Parks and Experiences:
Walt Disney World
- Fall 2023 – Journey of Water: Inspired by Moana – EPCOT – This new attraction is inspired by the beloved film Moana and will allow guests to interact with water as it completes its incredible cycle from the sky to the oceans and then back again!
- 2024 – Tiana’s Bayou Adventure- Magic Kingdom – Earlier this year, Splash Mountain closed to undergo an exciting transformation, reopening in late 2024 as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, a whimsical attraction inspired by the film The Princess and the Frog.
Disneyland Resort
- June 30, 2023: Rogers the Musical Stage Show- Disney California Adventure – Get ready for a show inspired by one of our favorite Avengers – Captain America. Based on the musical theater piece that won over fans in Hawkeye, Rogers the Musical is being dubbed by Disney as a “timeless story of a timeless hero. The one act show will be at Disney California Adventure for a limited time.
- Summer 2023 – San Fransokyo – Disney California Adventure – Pacific Wharf at California Adventure is getting a Big Hero 6 makeover. This neighborhood will be transformed into Baymax’s city that serves as a futuristic hybrid of San Francisco and Tokyo.
- September 28, 2023: The VIllas at Disneyland Resort- Disneyland Hotel – More Disney Vacation Club accommodation is coming to Disneyland Resort with this new tower at the Disneyland Hotel. The new building adjacent to the original Disneyland Hotel will feature 340-themed rooms including duo studios, deluxe studios, 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom and 3-bedroom villas! Bookings can be made at the villas for existing DVC members NOW before opening up to the general public on May 30th.
- Second Half of 2023 – Adventureland Treehouse – An exciting refresh is coming soon! Tarzan’s Treehouse is undergoing a transformation—and will reopen in a fresh, new way in 2023 as Adventureland Treehouse, a whimsical attraction inspired by Walt Disney’s Swiss Family Robinson.
- 2024 – Tiana’s Bayou Adventure- Disneyland – Splash Mountain in Critter Country will be closing at the end of the month to undergo its own transformation to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. This re-imagining of Splash Mountain will be a celebration of the Bayou, New Orleans, Tiana, and Co.
Important Disney Cruise Line Dates
- May – September 2023- Silver Anniversary at Sea – Disney Cruise Line is officially celebrating its 25th Anniversary. This includes special 25th Anniversary sailings, eats, treats, merchandise, and more! Don’t miss your chance to celebrate with Disney at Sea!
- Summer 2024 – Lighthouse Point Opens – In addition to Castaway Cay, Disney is opening a second tropical island hideaway in the Bahamas. As of going to print, select Disney Cruise Line sailings are expected to stop there starting next Summer!
- 2024 – Disney Treasure Sets Sail – Disney has yet to reveal and official opening date but we can confirm that the latest ship in the Disney Cruise Line fleet, the Disney Treasure will start welcoming passengers aboard in 2024.
Disneyland Paris
- Summer 2023 – “Pixar: We Belong Together” Stage Show –Starting this Summer, Disneyland Paris is getting a brand new stage show that celebrates all things Pixar! “We Belong Together” will make its debut as part of the grand finale of Disneyland Paris’ 30th Anniversary Celebration.
- 2024 – Disneyland Hotel Royal Transformation – Disneyland Paris’ Grand Hotel is getting a royal makeover. The property will have a regal theme and will be home to many Disney Princesses and Princes. Changes will include updated rooms and suites that draw their inspiration from animated classics like Beauty and the Beast, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty. Elements will also celebrate more recent animated classics like Tangled and Frozen.
Hong Kong Disneyland
- Late 2023 – World of Frozen Hong Kong Disneyland – Hong Kong Disneyland will have the awesome distinction of being home to the world’s first Frozen-themed land. This area of the park is expected to open in 2023. World of Frozen will be home to two new attractions: Frozen Ever After as well as the family-friendly coaster – Wandering Oaken’s Sliding Sleighs.
Shanghai Disney Resort
- Late 2023 – Zootopia-Themed Land – Shanghai Disney – Later this year, Shanghai Disney will be getting it’s eighth themed neighborhood inspired by the beloved film Zootopia. This new area of the park promises to be an immersive mammal metropolis with entertainment, merchandise, cuisine and more. It will also be home to a brand-new major attraction!
Tokyo Disney Resort
- Spring 2024 – Fantasy Springs – Tokyo Disney Resort – There are BIG things happening over at Tokyo Disney Resort as the park prepares for its newest land! The new area will feature Frozen Kingdom, Rapunzel’s Forest and Peter Pan’s Never Land. Also included in the expansion will be the Tokyo DisneySea Fantasy Springs Hotel which will offer stunning views of the new port!
