Kathleen Kennedy Shoots Down An ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Season 2
While Star Wars fans were blown away by the number of new projects announced at Star Wars Celebration last week, some were disappointed that a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi was not announced.
The 2022 Disney+ series saw Ewen McGregor return as beloved Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, who was eventually forced to leave Tatooine and save a young Princesses Leia from danger.

The show not only featured McGregor’s return to Star Wars but also Hayden Christenson as Anakin Skywalker. The penultimate moment of the series where Kenobi and Vader faced off was one of the high watermarks of the entire franchise.
Despite its popular characters and well-received debut last year, Lucasfilm has been mum on a possible second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi.

At Star Wars Celebration last week, an entire Obi-Wan Kenobi panel was held with McGregor and Christenson in attendance, yet there was still no second season announcement.
Kathleen Kennedy’s Comments on Season 2
Well, if you are an Obi-Wan Kenobi fan, I wouldn’t hold my breath that the series will continue.

In a recent interview with EW, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy reiterated her stance that there were no plans for a second season of the series, although that does not necessarily mean that we won’t see Obi-Wan again.
“I always hesitate to say ‘No, we won’t do anything more with ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’,” she said. “Maybe what we end up doing is something that gets incorporated into some of the other stories we’re doing. Or eventually a movie. Who knows?”

“But right now [Obi-Wan Kenobi] is still our standalone, limited series. We have no plans for expansion right now.”
Ewen McGregor Would Return
While we may not be getting a second season of Obi-Wan Kenobi, it seems likely that the fan-favorite character will return.

McGregor, however, seems ready to pick up his lightsaber again. When asked about a potential return, he said, “There’s something that’s opened up in my heart again. Hopefully, someone might think we should do some more…”

With McGregor on board, it would be crazy for Lucasfilm not to utilize their most popular character. How Obi-Wan returns to a galaxy far, far, away, however, remains to be seen.
