Your Latest Look at Construction in EPCOT
EPCOT is currently undergoing a massive multi-year transformation in Disney World. We’ve already seen some things completed, like the expansion to the France pavilion and the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride, but there’s still a lot of work to be done.
We’ve been keeping an eye on construction since it began so we can bring you regular updates. And, we’ve noticed some exciting progress in the park recently!
EPCOT Transformation Update
We visited EPCOT the past two days and have found a few things being added to the World Celebration area that’s currently under construction. Yesterday, we saw that some trees have been added behind the construction walls near Creations and Connections in EPCOT.
This might not seem like a big deal, but trees like this usually aren’t added until near the end of a project, so it’s exciting! Maybe Disney is planning on opening up another walkway like they did near World Nature recently.
And then today, we noticed even more vegetation added behind the walls! This was near Guest Relations.
More trees being added makes us think that some of these walls could be coming down soon, but we’ll have to wait and see!
Another exciting update is over at CommuniCore Hall, which seems to be moving right along! Look at how much of this building is already up.
A lot of work has been done on the hall and it’s happening very quickly. Back in February, this building barely had framing up.
It looks like most of the structure is up, and now Disney is focusing on getting it ready to be inhabitable.
If you don’t know, Disney announced CommuniCore Hall and CommuniCore Plaza last year as major parts of EPCOT’s transformation in the World Celebration neighborhood.
These will both be big areas for the festivals that are held at EPCOT and the hall will have a gallery space, a place for cooking demonstrations, and be the new location for Mickey & Friends meet and greets.
And, the plaza outside will have space for live music! Both of these are supposed to open sometime later this year.
We also know that Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana will be opening up this fall. We’ve seen some big changes on that nearby construction site as well!
