Tower of Terror and Surrounding Area Closed This Morning in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is one of the most thrilling rides in Disney World, but just like any other ride — it can close down from time to time.

You may not know that Tower of Terror is also home to a shop called Tower Hotel Gifts, which sells all kinds of unique spooky merchandise, and there’s also a Joffrey’s Coffee location just across from the ride, where you can sometimes find special themed drinks. But this morning guests had trouble visiting either spot, and here’s why!
Tower of Terror Area Closed
This morning, the entire area surrounding the Tower of Terror was blocked off, and the ride was listed as temporarily closed in the My Disney Experience app.
Typically, when the Tower of Terror is closed, guests are still able to visit the store or Joffrey’s, so this was a bit unusual.

Cast Members did confirm that we were unable to pass the barrier while the ride remained closed.
Note that the Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster courtyard did remain open, although the coaster continues to be closed for a lengthy refurbishment.

A little past 10AM, however, the Tower of Terror reopened, and the barrier was removed. Phew!
This serves as a good reminder that you never quite know what to expect when a ride temporarily closes in Disney World, and it’s always a good idea to keep checking the My Disney Experience app before walking over.
