6 Exclusive Ways You Can Celebrate Disney100 at Walt Disney World
While Walt Disney World’s “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” might be officially over, there is always something to celebrate! Disney100, celebrating 100 years of The Walt Disney Company, is officially underway at Walt Disney World and I can’t wait to go over these 6 ways for you and your family to celebrate!
1. Say ‘Hi’ to Mickey and Minnie Mouse in Their Dazzling Platinum Disney100 Outfits
While Disney100 celebrations are being offered in each park, EPCOT is the central location Guests can visit if they really want to experience some 100-year anniversary magic. With new attractions including Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, it makes sense that EPCOT is the headquarters for the Disney100 celebrations at Walt Disney World.
In addition to some of the newest attractions EPCOT has to offer – and even another one coming later in the year with Moana: A Journey of Water, EPCOT will also soon be home to the mouse that started it all – Mickey – joined by Minnie Mouse in none other than their Disney100 Platinum outfits!
During this exclusive meet and greet, Guests will be able to hug and high-five these celebrated characters while creating memories of a lifetime.
2. Spaceship Earth Will ‘Light Up’ for Disney100
Over the past several months, Spaceship Earth in EPCOT has been lighting up the night sky with special displays for various celebrations. This trend will continue for Disney100 and we have our first look at some of the iconic Disney stories and films that will bring this light display to life.
“The Show Lighting Team at Walt Disney Imagineering has been amazed at our guests’ reaction to the nightly shows on Spaceship Earth,” said Jason Read, show lighting designer principal for Walt Disney Imagineering. “We’ve helped celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Walt Disney World, EPCOT’s 40th and the park’s signature festivals. Now, we’re excited to have Spaceship Earth ring in the biggest celebration yet, the 100th Anniversary of the Walt Disney Company.”
“We’re also inspired by many things from the history of the company, its characters, theme parks and shows – even the Disney100 opening logo that plays before our feature films during this anniversary,” Read continued. “You may see homages to everything from the ‘Wonderful World of Disney’ television show opening to Mickey balloons that we sell on Main Street, U.S.A.”
3. Say ‘Cheese’ in Front of a Disney100 Backdrop
Guests are now able to snap a photo or selfie in front of an official Disney100 backdrop while entering any of the four Walt Disney World Theme Parks and at Disney Springs!
What a great way to remember the amazing memories of your visit during such a special celebration!
4. Pop-Up Character Visits at Walt Disney World Resort Hotels
What’s better than staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel for your vacation? Staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel and having a few iconic Disney characters stop by just to say “hey!’
Well if you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel during the Disney100 celebrations, you are in luck as a variety of characters all dressed up in their platinum best are doing just that! You never know who you might see!
5. Exclusive Disney100 Sweets, Sips, and Snacks
And, since it’s a celebration, you know there has to be food and drinks involved! And, Disney100 at Walt Disney World is no exception!
Debuting in the near future at the Walt Disney World Resort will be several exclusive 100th anniversary-themed sweets, sips, and snacks.
If you are a little antsy – and hungry – I do have a sneak peek for you for a Disney100 sweet treat that will be debuting at Amorette’s in Disney Springs on May 1, 2023: The Disney100 Petite Cake featuring mouthwatering dessert has layers of vanilla chiffon, berry mousse and berry compote, all topped with a celebratory Disney100 Medallion macaron.
While we wait patiently for more of the sweets, sips, and snacks to debut, Disney Parks Blog has caught up with Chef Amanda from the Disney Culinary Team to learn more about what’s in store.
“The culinary team has the wonderful opportunity to use food for storytelling,” Chef Amanda said. “We get to make special themed treats that bring guests into the story, letting them feel immersed in a tangible and very delicious way.”
“The inspiration of this cake pulls from the rich purple and platinum colors used for the Disney100 celebration,” Chef Amanda shared. “The drapery on the sides of the cake represents the traditional bunting that adorns Main Street, U.S.A. for special occasions. And of course, Mickey Mouse is proudly represented on the front of the cake because as we all know: ‘It all started with a mouse.’”
6. Celebration-Exclusive Merchandise
If you are looking to bring home a few souvenirs (and by a few, I mean 20) to celebrate Disney100, the options are endless. Some celebration-exclusive merchandise has already popped up in Walt Disney World but much more is on the way.
I am happy to confirm that the must-have will soon be available exclusively at the Magic Kingdom in Walt Disney World. This popcorn bucket is a must-have for your collection and is always something the entire family will love.
While we wait for the debut of more merchandise, all Walt Disney World Guests can currently enjoy beverages in a Disney100 cup as well as popcorn in refillable Disney100 popcorn buckets!
Make sure to keep it here with MickeyBlog as we will be the first to let our readers know the exact debut date of Mickey ad Minnie Mouse in their platinum outfits and the nighttime show coming to Spaceship Earth in EPCOT. We are also certain more surprises will be announced so make sure to be the first to know with us!
