San Fransokyo Transformation Still Underway at Disney California Adventure
Our MickeyBloggers Greg and Elyssa are currently at Disney California Adventure and they’re sharing some images of the Pacific Wharf transformation to San Fransokyo. If you’ve been following along with us, you’ll know that Pacific Wharf is undergoing an exciting transformation and will become the San Fransokyo neighborhood from the beloved Big Hero 6 films and series.
You’ll be able to immerse yourself in the worlds of Hero and Baymax. If you’ve watched the film, you’ll know that San Fransokyo is a fictitious town that combines all of the wonderful qualities of San Francisco and Tokyo!
You can see the change reflected in the advertisements on the side of the Pacific Wharf Buildings like the one above for San Fransokyo Square Canning Company.
The re-imagined area is expected to make its dazzling debut later this Summer as part of Disney’s 100th Anniversary Celebration.
The updated area will magically transport you to the not-too-distant future where tech companies took seaside canneries and turned them into the vibrant, multicultural district of restaurants and small businesses.
Similar to the original Pacific Wharf this area will be a go-to Disney California Adventure destination for eating and shopping.
Taking center stage in this area will be the San Fransokyo Gate Bridge. This bridge will link San Fransokyo Square to Paradise Gardens Park.
Soon to be added is a floating wind turbine which will be sitting atop the buildings. This turbine was designed to power the district.
Fans of Baymax are also in luck as we’re told he’ll be meeting guests in San Fransokyo. In addition, you’ll want to bring your appetites to sample a wide array of treats including sourdough bread, ice cream sundaes, Mexican cuisine, Asian dishes, and more!
When San Fransokyo opens, you’ll want to be on the lookout for a new area called Cerveceria. Here you’ll find English, Japanese, and Spanish signage. This will also be home to an outdoor beer garden decorated with lights and papel picado.
We expect more details regarding San Fransokyo to be released in the weeks ahead.
We’ll leave you with a quick video of construction going on at Pacific Wharf.
