Trail’s End Restaurant Is Officially CLOSED in Disney World
We have finally reached the end of the road for Trail’s End.
The fan-favorite former buffet closed its doors for good yesterday at Disney’s Fort Wilderness. It will now be repurposed as a quick-service restaurant, which is expected to open this summer.
A Remnant of The Vacation Kingdom
In many ways, Trail’s End was the last bastion of “old Disney” at Walt Disney World.
Located inside the iconic Pioneer Hall at the Fort Wilderness Campgrounds, Trail’s End was an oasis for hungry travelers, where down-home cooking and friendly service shined.
Unlike many of Disney’s newer restaurants which rely on chic menus or characters to draw crowds, Trail’s End had built its loyal fan base organically. After decades of serving some of the best food on Disney World property, it was only natural.
Thus, Trail’s End become a tradition for generations of Disney World visitors. Even those staying far away from the Campgrounds would make the trek across Bay Lake if it meant a chance to taste the restaurant’s cornbread.
Filling A Need
While Trail’s End will certainly be missed, the new quick-service restaurant opening in its place will solve a food problem that has plagued the Campgrounds for decades.
The resort has never really had a central dining location where guests could quickly get a wide variety of food.
For those staying at the campgrounds, the new restaurant will be a major convenience and something Disney should have added decades ago.
Where To Eat While Trail’s End Is Closed
While Trail’s End is closed for refurbishment, however, guests staying at the resort will have to make do with ordering from P&J’s Southern Takeout or swinging by The Chuck Wagon to pick up food.
And if you’re looking for a sit-down dining experience at Fort Wilderness, guests can visit Hoop Dee Doo Revue for dinner AND a show!
As always, we will continue to bring you updates on all the news coming out of Disney’s Fort Wilderness. So, y’all come back, ya hear?
