Kathleen Kennedy On The Possibility of Exploring the High Republic
At Star Wars Celebration in London last week, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy announced three new Star Wars films. As part of her presentation, Kennedy also revealed a look at the Star Wars timeline and explained that the franchise would begin to dive into previously unmined eras.
With the Disney+ series The Acolyte on the horizon, Star Wars fans were excited to see the High Republic listed among the notable Star Wars eras. Including the often-overlooked era on the Star Wars docket led many to wonder if more Star Wars media set in the High Republic could be on the horizon.
The Debut of the High Republic
The High Republic recently made its small-screen debut with Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures.

The series is set 100 years before the events of The Phantom Menace, and the era is considered the high-water mark of the Jedi Order.
The next window into the era will likely come when The Acolyte debuts next year. That series will be the first Star Wars show to feature a Sith character as its protagonist.

Could Lucasfilm Further Explore the Era?
In an interview with EW, Kennedy was asked if more High Republic-era shows could be on the way. While the Lucasfilm president remained vague, she did not dismiss the idea out of hand.
“It could be. One of the things we talked about in publishing was, how we could begin to incubate certain ideas. And in the case of the High Republic, there’s been some wonderful storytelling that’s gone on there. It’s not necessarily what Leslye [Headland] is doing with The Acolyte, but it certainly opens up the possibilities for being able to tell stories in that space.”

In the end, it sounds like Lucasfilm will continue to mine other eras of Star Wars history for new stories to tell. Hopefully, this will include a greater window into the High Republic.
