Your Ultimate Guide to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
Tron Lightcycle / Run recently opened, and its arrival signifies a changing of the guard at Magic Kingdom.
For the first time since 2014, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train isn’t the most popular roller coaster at the park. But it’s still a triumph of Imagineering!

You’ll want to ride this roller coaster whenever you visit Magic Kingdom.
So, here is your guide to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
What Is Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

In 2010, Magic Kingdom reinvented one of its most popular themed lands, Fantasyland, to introduce new experiences.
Old attractions that were waning in popularity, like Snow White’s Scary Adventures, closed in anticipation of new experiences.
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train rose from the ashes of Snow White’s Scary Adventures.

Disney reclaimed that space and even some of the props from the old ride to create something new and original.
In less than two years, Disney shuttered a dark ride and turned it into a phenomenal roller coaster. It’s one of Imagineering’s greatest feats ever!
The Basics of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

You should know a few things about this roller coaster before you attempt to ride.
First, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train requires guests to be at least 38 inches tall for safety reasons.
According to Kids’ Health, the average four-year-old is 40 inches tall. However, children grow at wildly divergent paces.

Also, some parents may prefer to err on the side of caution and wait a couple more years before letting kids ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
I would describe this roller coaster as extremely mild by thrill ride standards, but parents are the only ones who know what’s best for their children.
In terms of length, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train lasts for a little over three minutes, although that’s a bit misleading.

You’ll stop near a cottage at the end and admire the scenery for 40 seconds or so. The ride itself is closer to 2:20, but the experience is longer.
I would describe Seven Dwarfs Mine Train as an improved version of Big Thunder Mountain Railroad with dark ride elements.
You’ll find this ride across from The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. It’s toward the back of Magic Kingdom.

You should head west from Tomorrowland or straight from the Peter Pan’s Flight/It’s a Small World/Mickey’s PhilharMagic area to find it.
If you notice Cheshire Cat Café/Mad Tea Party, the roller coaster is to your left.
Conversely, if you’re at Be Our Guest Restaurant, it’s to your right.
Tips for Riding Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Riding Seven Dwarfs Mine Train isn’t as straightforward as some other attractions.
For the body of a decade, this roller coaster has been the most popular ride at the most trafficked theme park in the world.
Park guests have consistently waited at least an hour to experience the attraction.

However, you can skip most of that wait by taking some different approaches.
Disney sells a Lightning Lane for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. For $15 or so – the amount varies by date – you can enter the short Lightning Lane queue.
Alternatively, you can use Rope Drop to rush to Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Be aware that a lot of people do this, though.

Also, you should wait until just before the park closes to enter the line queue for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
Cast members will let anyone ride as long as they’re standing in line when the park closes.
Guests staying at official Disney resorts can take advantage of two other amenities.

With Early Theme Park Entry, you can visit Magic Kingdom 30 minutes before other guests. That’s an optimal time to visit Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
Even better, guests at Disney Deluxe tier resorts gain Extended Evening Theme Park Hours at Magic Kingdom once a week. That’s the ideal time to ride for qualifying guests.
The Story of Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

The new roller coaster tells a better story than any coaster that has come before it, too.
You enter the mine where the Seven Dwarfs spend their workdays. Yes, it’s heigh-ho, off to work you go!
During your madcap adventure, you’ll exit into the daylight as your mine cart carries you between gem mines.

Eventually, you’ll enter a dark but unexpectedly shiny space. The refracting light from the gems causes an illuminating glow.
You may not notice, though. You’ll be too busy staring at the antics of the Seven Dwarfs, including Sleepy, who is snoring beside a furry friend.

Dopey the Dwarf is testing a new pair of wildly expensive glasses, and Sneezy tries a balancing act that’s doomed to fail.
You’ll discover a remarkable amount of slapstick comedy in this dark ride section. It’s that much better because you don’t expect it during a roller coaster ride.

Later, you’ll journey through some curvy mine paths before you reach your ultimate destination. You’re outside Snow White’s cottage!
Here, Disney tells a fascinating story in a matter of moments.
Inside the cottage, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs dance and play, loving their lives.

Outside the cottage door, the Evil Queen takes on the so-called Old Hag appearance from the film and prepares to offer Snow White a poisoned apple.
Seven Dwarfs Mine distills the entire story of Seven White and the Seven Dwarfs within a three-minute roller coaster adventure!
