The once-in-a-lifetime Adventures by Disney voyage aboard a PONANT expedition cruise ship with Joe Rohde will take place this Summer from July 10 to 19, 2023. During the expedition cruise, Guests will have several opportunities to interact with Joe Rhode, including hearing about his legendary 40-year career with Walt Disney Imagineering.
Guests will learn how world travel, along with his vision and imagination, played a huge role in bringing Disney destinations around the globe to life, including Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park in Walt Disney World, Pandora: The World of Avatar in Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park, Disney’s Aulani Resort & Spa in Hawaii, and many other iconic attractions and destinations.

Guests who travel on this special Arctic Expedition cruise with Adventures by Disney and Rhode will also be treated to unique sessions, including one where he will share his sketching strategies to teach Guests how they can capture their own emotions best during their own travel – a frequent skill used by Rhode during his world travels.

Nature and Wildlife Shine on Adventures by Disney Arctic Expeditions
Adventures by Disney offers these memorable sailings just during specific times of the year so all Guests can fully enjoy the magic of nature around them. Highlights of an Arctic sailing with Adventures by Disney include:
- Gliding through the Svalbard archipelago glaciers and fjords
- Visiting Longyearbyen, the northernmost settlement in the world
- Viewing the jaw-dropping landscape of icebergs, ice floes, and the Arctic tundra

A quick side note about polar bears: Did you know that each strand of their outer coat is transparent and hollow with no pigment. Their outer hair is designed to protect their undercoat, which is colorless and not hollow. The skin of a polar bear is actually black, but due to some crazy optics and the undercoat hair reflecting the light, a polar bear looks white!
The Itinerary and More with Adventure Guides, Expedition Leader, and Joe Rohde
Guests setting sail on this Adventures by Disney Arctic Expedition cruise will fly into Oslo, where they will be met by the one-and-only Adventure Guides. These amazing Guides will be with all Guests every step of the way during this memorable adventure of a lifetime.
The next day, all Guests will fly to Svalbard, where they will board the luxurious PONANT ship designed just for expedition cruises. This ship will serve as home for seven days as they sail through the Arctic.

In addition to Adventure Guides and Rohde, the expedition cruise also offers Guests the chance to meet and learn from Expedition Leaders and naturalists who will also lead daily excursions and ensure all Guests are fully immersed in the magic of nature all around them.
