What We Learned About ‘The Acolyte’ At Star Wars Celebration
In case you haven’t heard, Star Wars Celebration in London kicked off today, with Lucasfilm giving fans a glimpse into the future of the franchise.
In addition to the announcement that three Star Wars feature films are in production, Lucasfilm also released a trailer for Ahsoka and gave guests a sneak peek at the upcoming Disney + series The Acolyte.
The Acolyte- What We Know
The highly anticipated show was first announced at Disney’s Investor Day 2020, and Star Wars fans have been waiting with bated breath.
The Acolyte will take place in the High Republic era, roughly 100 years before the franchise’s prequel trilogy. In an era known as the Golden Age of the Jedi, the show will instead focus on a Sith.
The show has been described as a “mystery thriller”, and has been highlighted by Disney executives at every turn. It will star Jodie Turner-Smith, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Rebecca Henderson, and Carrie-Anne Moss.
A Sneak Peak
Although the footage is not yet available online, Star Wars fans inside the ExCel Center were given a first look at footage from the series.
In this trailer, footage showed a Jedi temple, Carrie-Anne Moss’s character fighting, shots of Jedis lighting up their sabers in unison, and a mysterious gold lightsaber.
“This is about power and who is allowed to use it” the tagline for the show read.
In addition to giving a first look, Lucasfilm announced that The Acolyte will not debut until 2024. So, Star Wars fans will have a little longer to wait.
