Cultural Ambassadors Return to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge
Over the past weeks, Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge said, “Karibu nyumbani,” or welcome home, to some of the resort’s most important cast members, its Cultural Representatives. Tasked with bringing educational and cultural enrichment, these special cast members add such an experiential and energetic touch to the unique resort.

Part of the Disney International Program, the cast members selected to participate in this one-year program travel from Sub-Saharan Africa. The eclectic group adds to the authentic nature of the experience at both Jambo House and Kidani Village, the two resort areas housed within Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge.

The Cultural Representative program paused three years ago due to the coronavirus pandemic. The resort itself reopened on August 21, 2021 without the international cast members, and their absence could certainly be felt during a stay. Without a doubt, their return is especially exciting to so many regulars at the resort.

From teaching how to drum in a traditional rhythm to sharing new facts about animals on the savanna, the cast members selected for this program are both incredibly knowledgeable and passionate.
Within the lodge, other Cultural Ambassadors share stories not only about the continent of Africa but also about the geography and cultures of their individual countries.
On slower days, they even immerse guests in the Lodge’s intricate features in artistic ways. Just before the shutdown, my own family took an hour of peace and quiet in the resort’s lobby with two Cultural Ambassadors who shared their stories and guided us in a crayon rub lesson.
Welcome back to these remarkable ambassadors! We certainly cannot wait for the discoveries that lie ahead on our next visit to the lodge.
