This Day in Disney History- April 4
Welcome back to our journey through the Walt Disney Company’s past. Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- April 4.
April 4th featured the release of a new Goofy cartoon, the opening of a new Pleasure Island club, and the debut of a Marvel classic. So, let’s get going!
Man’s Best Friend Released (1952)
On this day in 1952, Man’s Best Friend was released.
The cartoon was directed by Jack Kinney and starred Goofy as a new puppy owner.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Beach Club Opens (1990)
On this day in 1990, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Beach Club opened in Pleasure Island.
The club replaced the XZFR Rockin’ Rollerdome, which allowed guest to skate and dance to rock music.
Special Agent Oso Debuts (2009)
On this day in 2009, Special Agent Oso debuted on the Disney Channel.
The followed the adventures of Oso, a fuzzy, loveable special agent-in-training who relies on viewers at home for help completing his assignments.
Playhouse Disney- Live on Stage! Opens in Paris (2009)
Also on this day in 2009, Playhouse Disney- Live on Stage! opened at Walt Disney Studios Park in Disneyland Paris.
Featuring characters from the Disney Junior television block, the show would run until 2019.
Good Luck Charlie Debuts (2010)
On this day in 2010, Good Luck Charlie debuted on the Disney channel.
The series centered on the Duncan family, who recently welcomed a new baby.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier Released (2014)
On this day in 2014, Captain America: The Winter Soldier was released.
The second film in the Captain America series, the film introduced Sebastian Stan as James “Buck” Barnes/The Winter Solider.
Fish Hooks Ends (2014)
Also on this day in 2014, the final episodes of Fish Hooks aired.
The show followed the adventures of a fun-loving fish named Milo, his brother Oscar and his best friend Bea Goldfishberg. The show originally debuted in 2010.
The Jungle Book Premiers (2016)
Finally, on this day in 2016, The Jungle Book premiered at the El Capitan Theatre.
A live-action remake of the the animated Disney classic, the film starred, Neel Sethi, Bill Murray, Ben Kingsley, Idris Elba, Lupita Nyong’o, Scarlett Johansson and Christopher Walken.
