First Look: Electric Mayhem is Ready to Rock in ‘The Muppets Mayhem’
Calling all Muppets fans! Disney has released more information about the upcoming Muppet series, The Muppets Mayhem, coming to Disney+.
While the show is expected to debut on Disney+ later this year, we know that the show will shift attention away from Kermit and Miss Piggy, and instead shift the focus to Dr. Teeth, Animal, and the rest of the Electric Mayhem.
In addition to the famous Muppets, the show will star Lilly Singh as an aspiring record producer, Saara Chaudry as her social media influencer sister Hannah, and Tahj Mowry as Electric Mayhem superfan Gary.
A Changing Music Scene
Founded in the 1970s, the Electric Mayhem will have to adapt to an ever-changing music scene.
According to the show co-creator Jeff Yorks, there is humor in that conflict.
“But they’re definitely from a different era. The conceit of the show is bringing this old-school band to the modern age and way of making music. That’s the comedy of it,” he said.
In addition to following the Electric Mayhem’s journey toward recording their first album, the show will also feature plenty of classic rock covers. In fact, the series starts with the band performing mostly covers until they begin to progress and work on their own material.
A Sneak Peek!
In an exclusive, Entertainment Weekly shared images from the upcoming seriesm with photos that showcase the band performing on stage and in the recording studio.
The Muppets Mayhem will be the first new Muppet television series since 2015’s The Muppets. The new series was created by The Goldbergs creator Adam F. Goldberg, along with Bill Barretta and Jeff Yorkes.
