Walt Disney Imagineering posted a video on YouTube today giving fans the inside scoop on Roundup Rodeo BBQ’s construction. In it, Cast Members talk about the importance of collaborating with Pixar.
Jared Sell, Walt Disney Imagineering Project Manager, shares that Pixar is a “fantastic partner” and “key driver to the story development.” The team focused on showcasing characters that aren’t already displayed in Toy Story Land!

Bo Peep and Trixie came to mind, which led to the creation of a Trixie pull toy. Loosely mirroring a beast in a rodeo, Jessie was chosen to ride the character!
Pixar Animation Studios’ Jerome Ranft, sculpted the designs out in clay before they went through the design process, eventually ending up in full scale. Jay Abruzzese, Senior Paint Production Designer at Walt Disney World, adds that the eyes are a particularly crucial part of the characters’ construction.

Their placement plays a pivotal role in how the Guests see and interact with the figures. Roundup Rodeo BBQ is completely encompassed in Toy Story theming!
Liz Gazzano, Executive Producer of Theme Parks for Pixar Animation Studios talks about how the restaurant is a “fun extension” of the beloved movies. The story continues in Toy Story Land with the addition of Roundup Rodeo BBQ!
