This Day in Disney History- March 23

March 23 was a huge day for Disney releases. New Donald Duck and Goofy cartoons debuted, as did two new animated Disney Channel series. So, let’s get started!
Home Made Home Released (1951)
On this day in 1951, the Goofy cartoon Home Made Home was released.

Directed by Jack Kinney, the cartoon featured Goofy attempting to build a new home.
Corn Chips Released (1951)
Also on this day in 1951, the Donald Duck short Corn Chips was released.

In the cartoon, Donald convinces Chip ‘n’ Dale to shovel his sidewalk.
Scrooge McDuck and Money Released (1967)
On this day in 1967, the 17 minute cartoon Scrooge McDuck and Money was released.

Based on a 1947 Carl Banks comic book story, the cartoon featured Scrooge teaching Huey, Dewey, and Louie about the history of money.
Charley and the Angel Released (1973)
On this day in 1973, the live-action film Charley and the Angel was released.

Starring Fred MacMurray, Cloris Leachman, Harry Morgan and Kurt Russell, the film told the story of crotchety shopkeeper who is visited by angel during the Depression to see what will happen if he doesn’t change his ways.
Disney and McDonald’s Reach Agreement
On this day in 1996, the Walt Disney Company and McDonald’s signed a 10-year promotional alliance.

As part of the agreement, Disney agreed to open locations in Walt Disney World to sell McDonald’s products.
Aida Opens on Broadway (2000)
On this day in 2000, Disney’s Aida opened on Broadway.

Featuring music by Elton John and lyrics by Tim Rice, the show was based on Verdi’s famous opera. The musical tells the story of an enslaved African princess and her doomed love for Egyptian guard Radames.
The Main Street Electrical Parade Ends In Disneyland Paris (2003)
On this day in 2003, The Main Street Electrical Parade was performed for the final time at Disneyland Paris.
Meet The Robinsons Characters Come to the Disney-MGM Studios (2007)
On this day in 2007, Lewis, Wilbur Robinson and Bowler Hat Guy met guests at the Disney-MGM Studios.

The trio of characters starred in Disney’s newest film Meet the Robinsons, which also debuted in the United Kingdom that day.
Doc McStuffins Debuts (2012)
On this day in 2012, Doc McStuffins debuted on the Disney Channel and Disney Jr.

The show tells the story of Dottie “Doc” McStuffins who can fix toys with stuffed animal friends.
Muppet Babies Debuts
Finally, on this day in 2018, Muppet Babies debuted on Disney Junior and the Disney Channel.

The computer-animated series featured toddler versions of different Muppets characters.
