What Will Disney Be Like in September 2023?
Like any other major tourist destination, Walt Disney World goes through peaks and valleys.
During some parts of the year, crowds can get a little crazy.
That’s why Disney veterans know when the slow season happens. It’s the best time to visit!
What will Disney be like in September 2023? Oh, you’re gonna love it…
About September Visits

A few years ago, Walt Disney World moved toward a new pricing model. The gist is that you pay more for admission tickets when park officials expect larger crowds.
Here’s all you need to know about September visits. Only January offers consistently lower pricing!
In other words, September is just about the closest Disney gets to an offseason in 2023. You’ll face some of the smallest crowds of the year!
Remarkably, Disney doesn’t cut back on the amenities in September, though.

Instead, some of the best theme park enhancements debut in this timeframe!
When friends ask me when they should visit, I often tell them that mid-September and early December are the two of the best times all year.
The combination of crowds, pricing, and amenities surpasses anything else you’ll find these days.
So, you can already tell that I highly recommend a September visit. Still, there’s some stuff you should know, though.
Florida Weather in September

The first thing you need to realize involves the weather. Depending on when you visit in September, it might still be summer.
No, we’re not in the dog days anymore, but Central Florida remains hot longer than most parts of the country.

According to Weather Spark, high temperatures can reach 93 degrees at Walt Disney World in September. Don’t freak out, though!
The average high temperature is only 86 degrees, which reflects how much variance the region has, especially as the seasons change.

Of course, the temperature never drops that low, as daily high temperatures typically remain 80+ degrees.
Meanwhile, daily low temperatures range from 68 to 78 degrees, with an average of 72 degrees.

You should reasonably expect a high of 86 and a low of 72 during your visit, but as wild as the weather has gotten lately, who knows?
That brings me to the other significant topic. Yes, hurricane season has grown more problematic in Florida over the past few years.

Thankfully, Walt Disney selected the best possible land for his Florida project. For this reason, you won’t ever be impacted by hurricanes at Disney.
However, Disney could close the parks in extreme circumstances, as happened with Hurricane Ian last year.
Even in that wildly unlikely scenario – it’s happened like five times in the 25 years – Disney will bring the fun to you!
Characters appear at the resorts to entertain guests. These memories are often as unforgettable as anything that could happen at the park.

So, you don’t need to worry about hurricane season, even if you travel to Disney in September/October.
What to Expect at Disney in September
I’m about to blow your mind.
Folks, I mean it when I say that September is one of the best times to visit Walt Disney World.

For starters, the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival will be well underway by then. In fact, it’ll be better than ever!
Disney has developed a new strategy for maintaining interest throughout the festival.
Recently, Disney has delayed opening some of its food booths until late August.
By visiting in September, you’ll be one of the first guests to enjoy the full complement of Food & Wine food booths!

Somehow, that’s not even the best, though! Disney also starts hosting Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in August these days.
In September, you’ll have your choice of numerous nights for what I consider Disney’s best after-hours ticketed event.
Remarkably, the prices are typically lower in September than they will be in October as well!
You can save a fortune by attending a month before Halloween season unofficially begins around the country.

That means you can visit Spirit Halloween and pick out your 2023 costume earlier than ever!
You’ll also discover other new opportunities at Walt Disney World. Depending on when you last visited, you may not have ridden Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind yet.

Cosmic Rewind ride vehicles
Well, that’s old news, as Disney has opened another roller coaster in 2023!
Tron Lightcycle / Run represents the pinnacle of Disney Imagineering, and you can ride it during your September visit!

(DISNEY)
In total, Disney has added four rides since 2020, with the others being Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
These are all E-ticket attractions that will make your trip unforgettable!
What to Expect in Central Florida in September

Do you like football? If so, the Universal of Central Florida season will be underway. The Knights will host home games on September 16th and September 30th.
Also, you can drive to Jacksonville or Miami if you want to watch an NFL game instead.

Those of you who prefer futbol will be in luck as well. Orlando SC hosts three home games in September, although two of them are on the same nights as UCF football.
The other date is September 24th if that works better with your schedule.

As usual, in September, you’ll find plenty of concerts, festivals, and even Fanboy Expo Orlando.
Generally, I advise people not to leave the Disney Bubble during their trip, as it adds a layer of chaos.

You don’t fully appreciate how all-encompassing a Disney vacation is until you depart the Bubble and explore the rest of Central Florida.
At that point, you’ll realize how good you have it at Disney!
Final Thoughts

I can list five excellent reasons to visit Disney in September.
The first is pricing, as it’s one of the cheapest times on the annual calendar.

Spaceship Earth
Not coincidentally, the second involves the crowds…or lack thereof. Disney charges less at this time of the year to entice more people to visit.
The company wouldn’t do that unless fewer people were visiting, right? It’s common sense.

The third is all the new rides, especially the Tron and Guardians of the Galaxy roller coasters!
Fourth is the 2023 EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, which remains the park’s signature event.

While all four of these reasons give you plenty of motivation to visit, the ace in the hole is Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.
We attend this event every year, and we’ve always had the best possible time.

From a price/crowd perspective, September represents the best time to attend, too!
