Test Track “Test” Vehicle has Parked Back at Epcot
While cruising through World Discovery at Epcot this morning, our MickeyBloggers noticed the return of a feature that we haven’t seen in quite a while!
It’s the “test vehicle” for Test Track – an exact replica of the cart guests sit in as they ride the attraction!
It’s been a while since we have seen this on display to guests in Epcot, but we’re sure guests will be happy to see its return!
Famously, the Test Track vehicles look just like cars, so we were excited to see this “parked up” outside the attraction this morning.
While this concept car isn’t about to speed off in a high-octane race, it’s actually put here for guests to see before they hop in the queue, to determine whether or not they will be able to comfortably transfer into the vehicle to enjoy the attraction.
Especially now the spring break crowds are starting to hit Walt Disney World hard, wait times for attractions are predicted to skyrocket in the coming days. So, it’s certainly a useful feature to be able to view these vehicles before you queue, to ensure there’s no disappointment once you get to the front of the line!
However, oddly, this vehicle is currently barricaded off to guests, behind a row of thick black tape as you can see from the photos. This means the test feature is more of a “look, don’t touch” offering, perhaps to combat crowding, or otherwise.
This differs to, for instance, the test vehicle that has been installed outside of the upcoming TRON: Lightcycle Run coaster over at the Magic Kingdom. That particular vehicle is freely available for guests to sit aboard, and is therefore very helpful in helping to determine whether the unique design of the ride will suit them before they wait. Whether this Test Track vehicle is unbarricaded in the coming days, we shall have to stay tuned to find out!
Amusingly, MickeyBlog recently reported that a slew of new “parking” signage had been installed around Epcot, including a new “Stroller Parking” sign in this exact area of World Discovery.
If we didn’t know better, we could almost joke that this Test Track car would make the ultimate in futuristic stroller options, and ponder over whether this indicates a new transportation-for-tots offering at Walt Disney World!
That is, of course, a joke, but we are happy to see this display returned to its rightful spot in Epcot, albeit barricaded for the time being.
If you’re visiting Epcot and plan on riding Test Track for the first time, be sure to check out this handy test vehicle if you have any concerns before you ride!
