Jon Favreau Answers The Question of Who Would Win a ‘Star Wars’ Duel: Anakin or Luke?
Jon Favreau has chimed in on one of the great debates in all of Star Wars — who would win in a duel between Luke and Anakin Skywalker.
Two of the greatest Jedi of all time squaring off would be a sight to behold, especially if both were in their prime.
Unfortunately, when Luke and Anakin (as Darth Vader) squared off in the original trilogy, neither one was in their prime. Anakin had been weakened by his battle with Obi-Wan on Darthomir and Luke had not completed his training.

Ahead of Season 3 of The Mandalorian, producer Jon Favreau was asked who he thought would win in a battle between the two Jedi.

The Mandalorian Season 2 finally gave viewers a glimpse of Luke Skywalker in his prime.
When asked who he thought would win a battle between the two legendary Jedi, Jon Favreau was adamant about who he thought would win.
“I think it has to be Anakin, right? I mean it has to be. I mean who -– a prime Anakin? And there’s so many different phases of it. But… we never really got to see– we saw a little bit of prime Luke with what we did.
“We alluded to it, but who knows what he’s been off to? But Anakin faced so many more challenges… He was in his prime in a more dynamic period in Star Wars history, right?”

So there you have it. While the battle over who would win the fight between Luke and Anakin will surely rage on, we know where Jon Favreau stands.
Favreau’s point is also well-taken. Anakin was battle tested far more than Luke was. He also received much more extensive training. Unfortunately, we will probably never know the real answer.
