Chef Mickey’s Returns to Buffet – And a New Mickey Greeting!
Chef Mickey’s returns to buffet style dining this morning and MickeyBlog had one of the first reservations of the day!
Background
If you aren’t familiar with Chef Mickey’s, this classic character meal in the lobby of the Contemporary Resort has been a signature dining experience for over 3 decades! Guests can meet Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald and Goofy while enjoying an all-you-care-to-enjoy breakfast or dinner.
Dining remained family style since the restaurant reopened after the pandemic, with food being served at tables. But today is the day this classic returns to its roots – the buffet is back!
MickeyBlogger Ed arrived for breakfast this morning to check out the new and improved buffet!
After checking in, Ed was given a Chef Mickey’s souvenir postcard with the characters’ autographs on the back!
How cute are our friends in their chef hat’s at the helm?!
Breakfast
Ed was seated an invited to the buffet at his leisure. Now let’s take a peek at the eats!
The buffet beings with a lovely assortment of sweet and savory bread and crackers (though the breads weren’t cut for serving at this location).
This is quickly followed by charcuterie spread of meats, cheeses and smoked salmon and some toppings.
Cottage cheese, quinioa salad and hard boiled eggs were followed by an assortment of fresh fruits. Strawberry yogurt and optional toppings finished out this lighter segment of the buffet.
A pastry station serves “Minnie Muffins”, croissants and assorted danishes and turnovers.
The real star here is the warm banana bread pudding with caramel sauce topping!
A spread of jams and butter is available to top croissants and breads.
The main feature of breakfast is the hot food station! Staples like bacon and sausage are paired with corned beef hash and egg frittata.
A carving station features beef brisket and smoked ham, but for the plant-based eaters, a tofu scramble is also offered.
There really is something for everyone on the buffet. Sides include hashbrowns, cheesy potatoes, buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy, grits and oatmeal.
And of course, no one will forget the Mickey waffles and french toast sticks!
Common allergens are clearly labeled on the buffet but we always recommend those with food allergies speak to someone at the restaurant. Disney is amazing about accommodating any allergen and related concerns!
Characters
The food may be today’s focus but it isn’t the only draw here, of course. Let’s say hello to some of the Fab Five!
Chef Pluto gave us a litlte ear wave.
And Chef Donald was spunky, as always.

Meet Chef Mickey!
Long time Chef Mickey’s fans take note – meeting Chef Mickey is a new experience!
When you pay your bill you receive a stamp on your receipt. Take your stamped receipt and join a line to meet Mickey in a separate greeting area.
There’s a photo backdrop of a Mickey plate, similar to what was previously offered at the restaurant entry point with a Photopass photographer.
Overall
In general, the new breakfast buffet is definitely going to be a crowd pleaser for Disney Guests, as it has been for years. With a wide range of traditional American style food and classic Disney characters (plus that banana bread), it’s an easy win for most families!
Reservations
It is strongly advised to have an advanced dining reservation for Chef Mickey’s! Snag one for your party 60 days before your trip, for breakfast or dinner! Your travel agent can help with that!
