Kali River Rapids Reopens at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Weeks Ahead of Schedule
We’ve got some exciting news for Kali River Rapids fans! The Disney’s Animal Kingdom white water rafting ride is once again open. This is fantastic news for those heading to Disney World in early March as the ride has reopened a few weeks ahead of schedule.
Back in January, we reported that Kali River Rapids would be closed for seasonal refurbishment on January 9, 2023. It is not uncommon for the ride to close during the colder Florida months since it is an attraction designed to get your very wet. Disney typically uses this time to perform routine maintenance on the attraction readying it for those soaring summer temperatures.
At the time the closure was announced, it was expected that Kali River Rapids would remain closed until March 17, 2023. However, today we received news that the ride had reopened. The image above was taken from the My Disney Experience App. As you can see, the ride is now showing as open and only had a 5 minute wait time going into the early afternoon.
This is echoed by the disneyworld.com website. As you can see from our screenshot above, the ride is listed as being open today from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. With Orlando temperatures currently in the upper 70s, this is certainly a ride that you’ll want to add to your Animal Kingdom must-do list!

For those unfamiliar, Kali River Rapids is located in the Asia section of Animal Kingdom theme park. The rafting ride takes guest past an erupting geyser, underneath a canopy of lush vegetation and whisked along fast-moving rapids. You’ll plunge through waterfalls including a thrilling 20-foot slope.
With Splash Mountain currently closed, this is the one Disney World ride guaranteed to get you wet. As you can see from the sign above…possibly even soaked. Those preferring to stay dry are advised to bring a poncho, change of clothes or a towel. You’ll also find ponchos for sale at kiosks surround the attraction. Lockers are available to keep your items safe and dry during your excursion.
