FIRST LOOK: Concept Art Revealed for San Fransokyo Neighborhood at Disney California Adventure
Disneyland is giving us a special surprise this Presidents Day! They’ve just revealed a first look at the new San Fransokyo neighborhood coming to Disney California Adventure at Disneyland Resort. For those unfamiliar the San Fransokyo reimagining is happening at the Pacific Wharf area of Disney California Adventure.
San Fransokyo is the futuristic hybrid between Tokyo and San Francisco that served as the fictional setting of beloved Disney film Big Hero 6.
In addition to giving us a first look at some of the awesome buildings and decor that will be found in the new San Fransokyo neighborhood, Disney also revealed that the area will make its debut later this summer as part of the DIsney100 celebration.
As you can see from these images, the new area will feature offerings inspired by Baymax, Hero and the gang. According to Disney, San Fransokyo will transport you to the not-too-distant future where tech companies took seaside canneries and turned them into a vibrant, multi-cultural district of restaurants and small businesses. This neighborhood will be a go-to destination for eating and shopping.
San Fransokyo Square will be situated around the iconic San Fransokyo Gate Bride. This area links San Fransokyo Square to Paradise Gardens Park.
Guests gazing back at San Fransokyo from Paradise Gardens Park will notice a floating wind turbine sitting atop a fishing net tannery. This turbine powers the district.
On the south end of San Fransokyo, guests will want to be on the lookout for loveable Baymax. You’ll also want to bring your appetites to sample some of Disneyland Resort’s best food including sourdough bread, ice cream sundaes, Mexican cuisine, Asian dishes and more!
A highlight of the new area is sure to be the Cerveceria. Here you’ll find tri-cultural influences with signage in English, Japanese and Spanish. The area will also boast an outdoor beer garden decorated with festoon lights and papel picado.
