5 Must-Dos for Tweens at Walt Disney World This Spring
Let’s cut right to the chase…a Walt Disney World getaway is NOT just for tiny tots! Take if from the mother of a tween, there are a TON of awesome things for older kids to enjoy at the theme parks and resorts. With that in mind, check out our list of 5 tween must-dos for your Spring 2023 visit to the “Most Magical Place on Earth.”
1. Show Off Those Gaming Skills
Use all those hours on the XBOX or PS5 to your benefit with some awesome Disney attractions that put your precision, speed and concentration to the test. Two of my 13-year-old’s favorites are Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin at the Magic Kingdom and Toy Story Mania at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Star Wars fans will also want to head over to Galaxy’s Edge at Hollywood Studios and step into the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon. You can take on a variety of roles from pilot and engineer to gunner. Put your gaming skills to the test flying the fastest hunk-of-junk in the galaxy on a Smugglers Run mission.
2. Add Even More Interactive Magic With the Play Disney Parks App.
Speaking of fun interactive activities, a must-do for any tween visiting the parks is to download the Play Disney Parks app. This mobile app allows you to bring your surroundings to life with an impressive array of activities and challenges that are sure to enhance your fun!
When at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Hollywood Studios, your phone (with a little help from the Play Disney Parks App) becomes your Star Wars datapad. Using this awesome tool you can translate a variety of languages from across the galaxy, scan objects in the area to locate precious cargo, decrypt messages from the Batuu’s residents and hack-into and interact with droids!
Another great example is the new DuckTales World Showcase Adventure Game in EPCOT. You can help Scrooge McDuck, his nephews and other Duckville residents find 7 lost magical treasures hidden in the countries that make up the World Showcase.
3. Take the Ultimate Selfie
Up your selfie game with some famous photo backdrops! Disney World is home to a handful of famous murals that have become a staple on Instagram and TikTok. Enhance those vacation photos with some vibrant colors and eclectic themes. A few of our favorites include:
- Purple Wall at Magic Kingdom Park
- Bubble Gum Wall at EPCOT
- You Are Most Beautiful Wall at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park
- Tatooine Traders Wall at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
4. Unleash Your Imagination With Disney World’s Incredible Shows
Disney World has some pretty mesmerizing live entertainment that is NOT just for little kids. Fantasmic! is a great starting point where you’ll journey into Mickey Mouse’s dream with a show featuring water projections, special effects, pyrotechnics, live acting, puppetry and FIRE! You can even sing along to your favorite moments from your childhood at Festival of the Lion King.
For a special treat, pre-book tickets from Drawn to Life from Cirque du Soleil at Disney Springs. This mesmerizing, avant-garde circus-style show takes guests on a journey through a magical world where an animator’s desk becomes the stage and drawings come to life. You’re sure to be awe-struck by the aerial artistry and acrobatics of Cirque du Soleil’s world-renowned performers!
5. Get Ready to Shop Til You Drop
We hope your tweens have saved up their allowance because there’s no better place for shopping than Walt Disney World. There are only a few months left of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration which features a TON of awesome merch including colorful Spirit Jerseys, golden castle-themed mouse ears and so much more!
Another hotspot is Disney Springs where you’ll find a wide variety of shops that tweens are sure to love. This includes Fabletics, Free People, Havaianas,. LEGO Store, Levi’s, Lululemon, Sephora, Stance, Superdry, Tommy Bahama, UNIQLO and more!
