Jon Favreau Finally Gets His Star On the Walk of Fame
Actor and director Jon Favreau received a long overdue honor today, when the Hollywood stalwart received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“Hitmaker Jon Favreau is a triple threat with his work in film television and as an actor himself” stated Ana Martinez, Producer of the Hollywood Walk of Fame. “His film and television work will be a part of Hollywood’s zeitgeist forever.”
On hand for the festivities were Robert Downey Jr., Chef Roy Choi, and Marvel head Kevin Feige.
Early Acting Career
Favreau began his career as an actor in the 1990s, where he landed roles in films such as Rudy and PCU.
He would then go on to establish himself as writer, with the critically claimed comedy Swingers.
In 2003, Favreau scored his first hit as director with the hit comedy Elf.
Launching The MCU
The turning point in Favreau’s storied career may have come when he launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe with 2008’s Iron Man.
After the original film, Favreau would go on to direct Iron Man 2, and executive produce all four Avengers movies. He also appeared in the films, playing Tony Stark’s driver Happy Hogan.
Following his Marvel success, Favreau would direct live-action adaptations of Disney animated classics The Jungle Book and The Lion King.
Reinvigorating Star Wars
Shifting franchise, Favreau was the executive producer, showrunner, and primary creative force behind The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett.
In addition to his Star Wars work, Favreau currently hosts and produces a coking show for Netflix alongside Roy Choi, called The Chef Show.
After nearly two decades of being a driving force behind the biggest franchises in popular culture. Favreau is finally getting his due. His star will be located near the El Capitan Theatre, the home of some of his biggest film’s debuts.
“I have a lot of really good memories working on Disney projects, Marvel projects, ‘Star Wars’ stuff. A lot of really special memories for me are in that particular area of Hollywood Boulevard,” Favreau says. “I like that I’m part of the texture of the neighborhood.”
