This Day in Disney History- February 13
Welcome back to our continuing journey through history of the Walt Disney Company! Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- February 13.
February 13th was a big day for Disney movies, with some massive premieres. It also so the launch of a new cable channel and the debut of an EPCOT Center exhibit. So, let’s get into it!

Freewayphobia Released (1965)
On this day in 1965, the Goofy cartoon Freewayphobia was released.

The new short was directed by Les Clark and featured a combination of animation and live-action. In the cartoon, Goofy demonstrates the rules of the road. First, he is an overly cautious driver, but then he was too aggressive. The short was created to teach young people the rules of driving.
A Haunted Mansion Recording Session (1969)
On this day in 1969, a recording session took place for the upcoming Haunted Mansion attraction.

At the session Louie Jean Norman and Bill Reeves performed an improvised version of Grim Grinning Ghosts.
Expo Robotics Opens (1988)
On this day in 1988, Expo Robotics opened in CommuniCore West.

The new exhibit features a top-spinning robot armed named Pixel, who could even draw pictures. The show would run through October 3, 1993.
Lumiere’s Kitchen Opens (1993)
On this day in 1993, Lumiere’s Kitchen opened in the Magic Kingdom.

The counter service restaurant would eventually become the Village Fry Shoppe in 2006.
Winnie the Pooh, A Valentine For You Airs (1999)
On this day in 1999, Winnie the Pooh, a Valentine for You aired on ABC.

In the new special, Winnie the Pooh goes searching for Christopher Robbin who is smitten by a young girl named Winifred.
Disney XD Launces (2009)
On this day in 2009, Disney XD launched.
Disney’s newest cable network, the channel was aimed at boys ages 6-14 and featured shows focused on adventure, gaming, and music.
Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil Premieres (2010)
On this day in 2010, Kick Buttowski: Suburban Daredevil premiered on Disney XD.

The new show followed the adventures of Clarence Francis “Kick” Buttowski who aspires to become the world’s greatest daredevil.
Oz The Great and Power Premieres (2013)
On this day in 2013, Oz the Great and Powerful premiered at the El Capitan Theatre.

On hand for the festivities were stars Mila Kunis and James Franco who walked down the “yellow brick road” carpet.
Bad Hair Day Debuts (2015)
On this day in 2015, the Disney Channel Original Movie Bad Hair Day debuted in the United States.

Disney’s newest film, Disney’s newest Original Movie, the film starred Laura Marano as Monica Reeves, a 16-year-old running for Prom Queen. When the young girl mixes different hair product, he wakes up with crazy.
Zootopia Premieres (2016)
On this day in 2016, Zootopia premiered at the Brussels Animation Film Festival in Belgium.
Disney’s newest animated feature told the story of would-be police officer Judy Hopps and con artist Nick Wilde.
