7 Packing Tips for your Disney World Vacation
As you get closer to your Disney vacation, the real excitement starts with packing those suitcases. Follow these 7 packing tips for your next Disney World Vacation.
Whether you’re the kind of person that starts packing two or more weeks in advance or you’re still tossing things in the suitcase while your family waits in the car, this checklist will help you!
1. Pack Ponchos.
When traveling to Florida, you should always expect rain. Having ponchos ready will help you keep going so that you don’t lose precious park time!
Disney sells a great reusable poncho. However, if you don’t want to carry something extra around when it’s not raining, Amazon sells multipacks of compact, disposable ponchos.
These ponchos take up minimal space in their packaging. Also, they’re cheap, so you can just throw them away once you’ve used them!
2. Bring a Portable Charger.
The My Disney Experience app is great for making sure you have everything you need at your fingertips.
Real-time wait times, dining reservations, mobile ordering, and mobile check-out are just a few ways the app can simplify your day.
The last thing you want is for your phone battery to die while you’re still in the parks. Keep a small portable charger in your bag to make sure that doesn’t happen!
3. Pack Comfortable Shoes.
When you’re at Disney World, you’re going to walk. A lot. Comfortable shoes are crucial!
Wearing uncomfortable shoes can leave you in unnecessary pain. That pain can slow you down, because you will be spending a lot of time on your feet.
4. Bring a Refillable Water Bottle.
Whether it’s the hottest day of summer or not, you will be thirsty. A great way to save some money is to pack a refillable, insulated water bottle.
Pro tip: At quick-service dining locations, ask for cups of ice water when you pick up your order. It’s free and you can refill your water bottle with it!
5. Get MagicBand Locks for Young Kids.
MagicBands are a great way to have our room key and park pass readily available. For some, the risk of losing it is stress-inducing.
Some creative minds came up with the idea of MagicBand Locks. These small sliders fit onto your MagicBand to keep it from getting pulled open.
These inexpensive products are great for peace of mind.
6. Plan Your Outfits.
Disney Resort Guests are eligible for early access to the theme parks. Early access begins 30 minutes prior to the park’s scheduled opening. This can make for some early mornings!
Anyone traveling with young (probably tired) kids knows the mornings can be crazy! To save time and stress, plan outfits ahead of time.
For kids, pack each day’s outfit in a gallon size baggie. Label each bag with the day the outfit will be worn. Then just take out that day’s bag each morning!
7. Pack Layers in Late-Fall, Winter, and Early-Spring.
In summer, you can count on hot weather with rain almost every day. The other seasons are less predictable.
When it’s sunny, there’s a good chance it will get warm, even in the winter months. But mornings and evening can get chilly when it’s dusk or dark. Dressing in layers will help you stay comfortable despite the changes!
