What Will Disney Be Like in July 2023?
When is the easiest time to visit Walt Disney World? That’s a question with an obvious answer!
Most people, especially parents with school-age children, head to the parks in July.
So, what will Disney be like in July 2023? Here’s what you need to know.
Let’s Talk about July Visits
You know that July presents a marvelous opportunity to visit Walt Disney World. After all, this month is one of the three most popular times at the parks.
Guests could choose any time on the annual calendar, yet they keep returning to Walt Disney World in July.
Part of that stems from the convenience. When children aren’t in school, families can travel more easily.
Still, other factors underscore why July remains vacation season at Disney theme parks.
Park guests can attend food festivals, enjoy summer weather, and admire everything that’s new at Walt Disney World.
In 2023, vacationers also gain the additional benefit of celebrating a once-a-century event at Disney!
As we’ll discuss in detail, The Walt Disney Company turns 100 later this year. And Disney will start the party early…as in January!
Let’s Talk about the Weather
We should be realistic about the weather. Florida has only grown hotter in recent years. Thankfully, you can spend much of your time on indoor rides.
Still, you should dress in anticipation of 90+ degree temperatures. According to WeatherSpark, that’s the average high temperature in Central Florida in July.
High temperatures generally range from 85 to 94 degrees, and the weather grows warmer toward the end of the month.
For example, July 4th claims the dubious distinction of having the highest average high temperature of 94 degrees. For this reason, 100 degrees isn’t outside the realm of possibility.
At night, the temperatures cool off nicely. The average low temperature is 75 degrees, with a range of 72 to 78 degrees.
That’s not light jacket weather by any stretch, but it does signal that you’ll grow more comfortable as the sun sets.
Notably, this eventuality occurs more regularly later in the month. July 1st contains 26 more minutes of daylight than July 31st.
So, the days will grow hotter as the month ends, but they’ll also turn shorter. Use that information as you will.
Let’s Talk about Disney Events in July
On July 14th, 2022, the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival opened. At the time of publication, Disney hasn’t announced the 2023 dates yet.
Still, a mid-July opening strikes me as a realistic expectation. Of course, you may visit earlier in the month.
If you arrive a few days early for the July 4th holiday, you could possibly experience a different festival altogether.
The 2022 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival ended on July 1st. Again, Disney hasn’t confirmed dates for this event yet, either. I’m merely speculating based on recent events.
Of course, neither of these festivals presents the unprecedented opportunity of another 2023 celebration.
On January 27th, Disney kicked off its Disney100 birthday party! This event signifies that Walt and Roy Disney founded the company on October 16th, 1923.
Disney revealed that many of the celebratory events will occur at Disneyland Resort. However, Walt Disney World has added tons of stuff, too.
You’ll discover limited edition food, drinks, and merchandise as part of the events. Now, I freely admit that Disney does that with many of its parties.
The company only turns 100 once, though. You will want tons of keepsakes from this event.
One day, you can tell your great-grandchildren about what you did the year that Disney turned 100. And it will make you so happy!
Finally, I’ll add that Tron Lightcycle Power Run will open in April.
So, you can ride the state-of-the-art new roller coaster at Magic Kingdom during your vacation!
When you travel in July, you will be among the first to do so.
Let’s Talk about Central Florida Events in July
Central Florida hosts two professional sports teams and a college football program on the rise.
Alas, the only football you can watch in July is mini-camp practice sessions. Nothing like that could ever compete with Disney.
College football isn’t even doing that yet since class isn’t in session yet.
That brings us to Orlando City SC, the proud soccer franchise in the area. This team WILL play games in July…but only early in the month.
The current schedule calls for home games on July 1st and July 4th.
Those of you who enjoy a split park stay should know that Minions Land should open at Universal Orlando Resort this summer.
You could feasibly ride the new Minions attraction if everything breaks right. Similarly, SeaWorld Orlando will introduce Rescue this year.
I’m a firm believer that you should stick with Disney no matter what, though.
The cleanliness of the parks and the quality of the attractions justify the company’s de facto monopoly. That’s doubly true during the Disney100 event.
Of course, you prefer other forms of entertainment. So, you should know that Beetlejuice: The Musical plays for a few dates in July at the Dr. Phillips Center.
As of the time of publication, we’re still awaiting announcements on most 2023 concerts. The only one we know for July is Sam Smith on the 26th.
Rumors abound of some huge acts playing in Orlando this summer, though. So, stay tuned!
Final Thoughts
The Food & Wine Festival has garnered acclaim as one of the best overall food festivals in the world. It’s legitimately a top-10 event.
That exhibition alone justifies a July visit. However, Disney has stacked the deck this year with the new Tron roller coaster and the Disney100 birthday party.
So, a Disney summer visit this year qualifies as a once-in-a-lifetime type of family vacation.
