The Splash Mountain Pressed Penny Machine Has Returned at the Magic Kingdom!
It’s all good news from the patch, as the beloved Splash Mountain Pressed Penny Machine has made a triumphant return to the Magic Kingdom!
Hurrah!
Now before we look any closer, lets rewind for a moment to Sunday, January 22nd. It wasn’t that long ago, so I’m sure you haven’t forgotten, but that day marked the last day of operations for the classic Magic Kingdom attraction, Splash Mountain. The “final plunge,” if you will.
With the beloved attraction set to receive a total overhaul over the coming year, many fans were left feeling rather bereft. And it’s completely understandable, which is why there were no surprises here when guests showed up in their masses to bid farewell to the ride. Honestly, the crowds stretched for (what felt like) miles that day from Frontierland – and you can check out our evidence here!
One of the most newsworthy aspects of that fateful Frontierland day was the number of guests waiting in-line specifically to access the Splash Mountain pressed penny machine. Providing affordable yet nostalgic souvenirs, this machine saw huge queues that day, stretching all around its home in the Briar Patch gift store.
And we’re not surprised at this, either! After all, surely the close of both the attraction and the store meant the pressed penny machine would also be out-of-office permanently, too? Or would it…
Nope! We’re here today, thrilled to tell you that the very same pressed penny machine, with all the very same pressed penny designs, has simply relocated itself and is still perfectly useable in the Magic Kingdom. And it’s not far from its original spot either, now sitting just beneath the Frontierland station.
Like we said at the start of this article, hurrah!
Better still, the machine had absolutely no line whatsoever when our MickeyBloggers went over to check it out. It’s a far cry from how it was on Sunday – today we were able to get up close to it to admire it in all its beauty!
With penny designs for both Splash Mountain and the neighboring Big Thunder Mountain attractions, we’re thrilled to see this fan-favorite machine live on at Frontierland.
Be sure to pay a visit when you’re next passing on the Walt Disney World Railroad, and see what all the commotion was about!
